Atom 4 forged wheels

Post by RayC » Fri May 20, 2022 8:11 am

Hi, Has anyone upgraded to the forged wheels on an AA4 ? ....Is the improvement in handling on track noticeable ? or more theoretical due to less unsprung weight .
I see the weight loss is just under 10 kg for all 4 wheels . I was convinced there was an improvement with Dymags on my 3.5 ...but there the weight saving was more like 20kg.
All opinions /advice appreciated as I feel the need to pimp my ride now and the wait for aero is 4 months !

I can't comment on the savings on track - I'd say it's probably marginal at best but just look at them... 😍

I'm going to swap at some point, whenever I swap to lighter wheels its noticeable difference on other cars, its never night and day or ground breaking though. It just feels a bit wrong to have heavier wheels on an Atom, so I will swap when I've freed up cash elsewhere

I ordered them, but are they only in black, or do I get a choice later on?

Good question. I'm sure you can probably get them in a different colour. I've seen some in gold but I think they were done aftermarket.

Like you, the switch to Dymags was very noticeable. The switch from standard to forged in the AA4 is nowhere near as noticeable, but they do look a lot nicer. I think that standard wheels on the 4 are a lot lighter than the standards were certainly on the 2.
