Unless you want to become the guinea pig for yet another solution I’d stay well clear.speedmachine wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 7:09 amAh that was going to be my question, else I might opt for the carbon ceramics…nobody with experience?

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes
They have done a couple of cars with the carbon brakes, there was one in build when I had mine serviced about 6 weeks ago, got some pics.
Hope the springs are the answer

GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.
Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes
Could I please trouble you for the link on buying these? I've bought the larger master cylinder and am getting that fitted next week.plip1953 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 11:32 am Re Atom 4 with AP brakes - as previewed the other day, we've now added 4lb anti-knockback caliper piston springs and discarded the dust seals. The brake pedal is now the firmest it's ever been, and stayed good after a fairly lengthy road test, although the proper test will be out on track in about 10 days time.
On a second identical spec car, the same 4lb springs will be added, but dust seals will be retained.
I'm thinking of going to Mintex 1144's as I can then better understand the difference from my old 3.5.
Being a technical ludite, does anyone know which size fits the 4?
I'm doing Bilsterberg and Spa at the end of the month and would love to have confidence in the brakes again.
Thanks in advance.

They are also sold in packs of 4, but last time I looked they were on back order.

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes
so anti-knock back spring and 0,75" master cylinder right ?plip1953 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 11:32 am Re Atom 4 with AP brakes - as previewed the other day, we've now added 4lb anti-knockback caliper piston springs and discarded the dust seals. 0.75" for the rears and switch the current rears 0.7" to the front.Lew wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 1:19 pmso anti-knock back spring and 0,75" master cylinder right ?plip1953 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 11:32 am Re Atom 4 with AP brakes - as previewed the other day, we've now added 4lb anti-knockback caliper piston springs and discarded the dust seals. The Corten-Miller pedal box brace has also proved to be helpful.
Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes
Is there a group buy on the pedal box brace? I think I read further up the chain that pricing would vary depending on batch size?

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes
Can recommend the brace, definitely improves the feel of the pedal.

Re: The curious case of the Atom 4 brakes
Can you just ditch the dust seals ? Or does it require a bit of work for them not to wobble around ?
About anti-knockback spring do the pistons have the correct shape to fit them ?
cheers and thanks for the feedback, I've tested my new brakes yesterday (ap rears) and there is indeed a dead travel zone in the pedal, I'll give it a bit of time to drive in and maybe bleed it again but I guess I'll switch to a bigger MC quite soon
