Timing Strut on Atom 4

I am competing in the Brighton Speed Trials on 4th September and need to fit a regulation timing strut. Has anyone had experience of fitting one to an Atom 4 ?? I am wondering if its OK to screw it in to the inner wall of the air intake scoop under the nose. Any comments from anyone who has fitted one, or any good ideas would be very welcome. Thanks.
