Hans lll device
Hi all, looking at getting Hans device for bell helmet and any advice whether I would need a 20 degree or 30 degree Hans device. 5ft 11in and medium build? Thanks

Hi Rich,
Hans are very specific to the user so its worth going to a motorsport store and trying a couple. Unfortunately its similar to helmets, different brands fit different people better.

Hi Rich
Depending on your needs, you might also want to explore a Simpson Hybrid that offers a degree of lateral protection and doesn’t have the 20 / 30 degree issue. (Disclaimer - I haven’t tried either but came across the Simpson device while reading around).

Let’s us know how you get on. I think there are a few people looking into HANS for track days.

Re: Hans lll device
I use a Simpson Hybrid (although in a different car brand as I haven't got an Ariel yet!) and although it is a bit of a faff, attaching it to the helmet each time I go out, it is very comfortabe to use and I like the idea of some lateral protection.
I could leave it attached to the helmet, to be fair, but I chose to clip it in each time with the quick release fastenings.
If you have harnesses, I can't see any reason not to use one.
