Mine is a 2001 car (I think) and does not have that feature, would be very interested to see some detailed pics of how the airbox cover fits.

Are we talking about the green air scoop in the previous picture. Or the black portion under the air filter?

[/quote]

Yep the airscoop.  On my car (an every other Mk1 I have heard of) it requires removal of all other rear panels to remove it.

Well this one comes off when you remove the 4 dzus clips. You can see it in the previous picture sitting on the black tail section (what I think you call the "tea tray") along with one of the clips. The silver object underneath it is the High Visibility Brake Light.

This next photo shows it on the car.

From the horse's mouth (or fingers, anyway)

"On Atom 1 You can take off the cover by just loosening some of the bolts, removing the rearmost bolt (that goes into the silencer hanger) and you can tilt the engine cover just enough to allow for removal of the airbox cover and save disconnecting anything."

Mind you, that never worked for me... I always took it all off as I had trouble getting to the 701 cap... Fingers like bananas (yes, I know, and tits like coconuts)

If you can do it with the engine cover on tight, yours has been modified somehow...

Yes, well. That's becoming quite obvious.

And I'm not posting any pictures of the other end of the car again after your earlier comment.

I'm just glad I don't have to revise the handbook!
