Hey Chris. We are very local indeed! Strangely I've never seen an atom around Aylesbury. Let me know if you ever fancy an early morning drive  :tu: :vroom:

Have I missed something, does that say it's done 10,000 miles?  If so, wasn't it run in... well about 9000 miles ago?

Tow bar fitted to family hack, trailer hired, number plate made up and fitted to trailer. Looks like we are all set for our week down in (hopefully) sunny Weymouth. The atom will be spending a few days being pampered at the factory.

Hired the trailer a few days early as I have never towed before  :- Went for a trial drive on Wednesday the 1.6 petrol qashqai says it can tow 1200Kg! I think it is going to struggle!

Image

Unfortunately my licence restricts me to a maximum combined weight of 3500kg. Clearly when someone came up with this limit they can't have been thinking sensibly. Surely towing with a heavier, more powerful vehicle can only be safer  ???

I'd probably be better off putting the qashqai on the trailer!

I know the feeling, the trailer license thing is a right pain and doesn't make much sense overall. It took me a while to find a trailer I could legally tow behind a Yeti.

As I'm sure you are aware they go on the maximum weights printed on the trailer and not the actual weight loaded, if the trailer's platted more than 1500kg you could potentially be breaking the law (loaded or not).

Stupid hey?

It's far too confusing surely the total 'maximum authorised mass' is dictated by the towing vehicle. In my case maximum towing weight of 1200kg + the weight of the car circa 1500kg and then some allowance for myself luggage and the family.
