3.5R For Sale

Post by CAG3D » Sat Jan 15, 2022 2:43 pm

No, not mine Image

The one on the Auto Trader. Awesome car. £70k. Decent Atom 4 money.

If you wanted a good 2nd hand car, to avoid the silly wait (I still don’t know how people have the discipline to wait so long, life is too short), the 3.5R or 4???

I have yet to drive the 4, but for me, for now, I’d go 3.5R……..

Thoughts please. Image

All day ... yes

3.5R gives you a little extra shove and a bit more grip plus the awesome sequential box.

Looks fantastic. Shame it doesn't have the Dymags though.

Lovely looking 3.5R Atom, would have gone for this one if I did not already have one.

Iirc, the factory were quoting around £28k to upgrade (labour power, wheels, suspension and sequential box) on a 3.5 s/s

Does that sound right? Or is it more?

It will definitely be more than £28 with the box

The box was 22k as an option new, so definitely would be more as a retrofit. I know a man on here approached the factory about building a new 3.5R Sadev and it was looking like a very spicy sum indeed!

Shame that 3.5R only has the Bilsteins and Team Dynamics wheels. Looking at the 2017 price list, £70k is pretty much exactly what it cost the first owner. The bulkhead has been signed by the factory - maybe it was the last k24-engined 3.5? (I believe Alan P's was the last ever 3.5/R and it has the k20 engine).

There's a 2014 3.5R for sale too at £65k, but the advert says it has been imported and there is no mention of service history. It has non-factory carbon mudguards all round and non-factory TRS belts, which makes me slightly suspicious that it has been crashed abroad, probably whilst on track.

I know AlanP will say it's blasphemy, but I have been looking at 4s recently, trying to decide whether the extra c.£30k would be worth it (obviously my wife would say no!). I'd like a 3.5R but as I only use mine on Cornish country roads, I am not sure I'd be able to exploit the extra power.

Dear Mr Fastlane, you stick with that beauty you have now. Certainly don't decide without driving a 4, you'd miss that scream!

If you ever find yourself in London pop over and come out in mine. I suspect meeting in Crewkerne just isn't going to happen.

Do you think £70k on a 3.5R is a safer money wise? Or would the 4 hold value better?
