SC Atom wanted (UK)

It's that time of year....
Supercharged Atom wanted!

The car must:
Be Supercharged.
Be in excellent condition.
Have excellent Service History (that can be quantified by Ariel).

Preferred to have had:
Limited Track Days
Fewer owners (but I know they change hands all the time).

Don't Mind:
Highish Mileage (as long as above criteria met)

A bit about me:
Genuine private buyer, based in Hampshire UK.
Wanted an Atom about 5 years ago - just couldn't raise the cash.
Had a few Hayabusa's (and other bikes) since. Now got Gixer 1000. Still want an Atom!
Wanted Peter's SC (went for £28k last week. He can confirm my interest.) but I was genuinely late raising the money.
I now have the money in my bank - so please, if you have an SC baby in the garage you hardly went out in this summer - lets do some business before my Mrs finds out!

You're asking for a lot. There's not many sub-30k supercharged cars that come up, and the ones that do will be 12+ years old. They'll probably have changed hands a few times and with many people being far away from the factory there's not always factory service history.

Also due to the nature of the car a fair few of the buyers, especially in the earlier days, will have been petrol heads who would have quite happily (and adequately) serviced and maintained the car themselves.

And generally speaking most of the earlier buyers used to do more track days. I remember the honing/hooning days being packed and the cars were really thrashed about a bit. It was designed to be a track car so that's what people bought it for.

There's one on ebay at the moment but it looks a bit battered, might be an ex-experience day car.

The best that you can really do is find one that suits your budget and send it to the factory for a look over, and if any issues pop up either get the seller to sort them out or use that to negotiate the price down.

There's always exceptions, Peter's car was very good value, and I'm surprised it hung around for so long.

You are asking alot for £30,000. Personally i would recommend you remove the insistence for a supercharger. You will get a decent 245bhp car with a decent history for £30,000. Then save up and have it supercharged later.

Yep, 30-35k will be your sweet spot for an early supercharged Atom. I sold a 2/300 for 30k about a year and a half ago and I know that car sold recently for more than what I sold it for.
