Re: Schumi Back in F1
Ferrari have asked permission for Schumi to have a day in the 09 Car
Bet BMW say no just for a laugh

Re: Schumi Back in F1
Torro Rosso have seen red and said no to the one day test, so have Red Bull and Williams.
Schumi's neck is not strong enough aparently, has to have some medical checks.

Re: Schumi Back in F1
Glad I'm sitting down.... Dex has it right!
Shumi not coming back due to neck injury caused by bike crash.
Is this because Massa is better than we think? Or can we start another rumour.
Maybe Ralf will be persuaded to return to F1...

Re: Schumi Back in F1
Oh you cynic...
Great press release though:
PRESS RELEASE With Michael Schumacher now being unavailable to stand in for Felipe Massa, as from the forthcoming European Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro announces that car number 3 will be driven by Luca Badoer. "I am very unhappy that a problem means that Michael cannot return to racing," commented Luca di Montezemolo. In the past few days, I could appreciate his great efforts and extraordinary motivation which had spread through the team and fans around the world. No doubt his return would have been good for Formula 1 and I am sure it would have seen him fighting for wins again. In the name of Ferrari and all the fans, I wish to thank him for the strong attachment he displayed for the team in these circumstances. In agreement with Stefano Domenicali, we have therefore decided to give Luca Badoer the chance to race for the Scuderia after he has put in so many years of hard work as a test driver." Maranello, 11th August 2009 Motor Sport Press Office

Ralf? - Ha, he is doing crap in DTM, get Hans Stuck back in that Mercedes he is driving lol.
Badoer might be a SPOILER in the races.
Do you reckon it will be Badoer and Gene swapping drives or just Bad Oder.

I wonder how this might affect Renault's appeal. Eddie Jordan seems to think it will:
Eddie Jordan believes the Schumacher news might compel Ferrari chiefs to try to bring forward Fernando Alonso's expected move to the Italian team.
"My information is that Alonso is going to Ferrari next year," the former team owner told the Sun. "Why don't they bring it forward? If I was Ferrari that is what I would try to do."

Re: Schumi Back in F1: update August 11th, no he is not!
Schu is coming back to forumula 1 , just not yet
Just heard a live press conference, when asked whether he will be coming back for Monza
He said, something of the effect.........there is lot of speculation the key point is I wanted more than anything to come back but it is currently impossible ..."
From what he said, I actually think he just wasn't up to the job yet, HOWEVER, I would say there is a 40% chance of him coming back later this year and 90% chance he'll have a seat for 2010 IF Massa is not back

Heart ruling yr head eh Jon ?
I was gutted too but just cannot see it happening. Possibly a race later this season but not as a main driver next year - it just doesnt get Ferrari anywhere.

Lets make a few assumptions
Assumption :Schuey was over 1 second off his 2007 pace in the same car on the same track plus his neck was hurting a bit - the neck becomes the excuse plus he's not fit enough yet.
Massa does not drive for ferrari in 2010. Raikonen is going elsewhere and Alonso takes seat.
So there is an open seat available. Schuey has 8 months to get fit enough
Ferrari have seen the incredible PR generated by Schuey coming back.....
Watch this space.................

He's still got a wonky chin though. It sort of slopes.
Let's not forget that.
