Sad to see. The cars are beautiful and the brand is now lost forever.

Great shame.
I had an early Griffith 500, a terrific car, loads of character, loads of fun; probably the same as the man.

Not what I heard... but most car company owners are hard nuts - they need to be.
It's a sort of shame, but I think TVR had drifted away from their roots. My 500 cost about £40k new. In my opinion there is still room for a low volume British sportscar on steroids that costs about £20k - which is what all the enthusiasts in this country want.
Here's the brief:
British built
Grunty
Great sounding
Grand tourer with no frills
Looks extraordinary
Pretty impractical
and most importantly...
£18 - 24k range
They'd sell like hot cakes.

Haven't Marcos gone bust recently too, they were kinda competing with TVR??

The 'dog biting a piece out of the clay model' story suggests a sense of humour does it not?

a) not PW's story, and b) not true.
But I agree, a nice urban myth nonetheless...

To be filed under 'apocryphal'?
Are you sure?
