#@$% weather forecasters  >:(  partly cloudy indeed.

It was so friggin hot, that if it had not been for the availability of cold beer, people could have died.

Even after only the 4th round it looks like the Irishman, Adam Carroll, could be this seasons champ. If he had not suffered the same "anti stall system activating" problem, that caught out a few of the other drivers, he would have made a clean sweep. He was definitely very fast when he was out in front.

BTW. I entered the local competition and won a consolation prize. An A1 Team NZ cap to go with my T-shirt. See here I am wearing both...

A1GP any good?

Post by RichardR » Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:48 pm

Is A1GP any good and worth going to see?

I'm in Portugal in a few weeks when it's on at the new Algarve F1 circuit and can't decide if it's worth the lolly.

I thoroughly enjoyed the racing at Taupo, earlier this year.

The cars are so evenly matched that the drivers have to push hard. Sometimes they push too hard and wreck another teams chances as well as their own. That can be a disappointing when you see someone doing well get wrecked by some idiot.

Switzerland and Ireland were both very quick at Taupo and are currently 1st and 2nd in the championship. Portugal should draw a big crowd for their home race because they are currently 3rd in the standings.

What's more, the series is about points not wins.  ;)

Yahoo! Earl Bamber (NZ) topped the rookie practice with a 1m 34.147 and was second in the practice to Robert Doornbos of Netherlands. Doornbos time was 1m 31.962 followed Bamber's 1'32.030.

Italy and Germany are using Vitantonio Liuzzi and Andre Lotterer as new drivers. 4th and 7th in practice.
Neel Jani (6th), Adam Carroll (14th) and Filipe Albuquerque (5th) are 1-2-3 with 73,70,64 points.
Ana Beatriz smacked the Brazilian car into the tyres at 250km during the rookie practice.
Algarve is all new to A1GP. It could be quite exciting as they come to terms with the track.
