Deronda
Re: Deronda Type G V8
That would be an awesome car... excempt WTF!? is it with the styling? I love it looking at it one way, and then the next picture
If they'd just tone it down a little it would be a real winner IMO.

Re: Deronda Type G V8
You should see it in the metal.
It's not a pretty sight.
Stevo and I looked at one a couple of years ago. Our eyesight has thankfully recovered since.
Seriously, it's not a bad homage... but the build quality then was rubbish. I assume it's come on a bit.

The company www.autosportdevelopment.com is big in to racing and the parent company www.trentonforging.com "seems" to have the backing to make the product. A friend and I will be doing a factory visit this summer and we will report back.

Re: Deronda Type G V8
I registered on their site... gave them my email, and no phone number... last night.
Jim emailed me this morning saying "Please email me a phone number where you can be reached along with the best time to contact you. I would like to speak with you live about the Deronda."
I don't think so

Re: Deronda Type G V8
Oh my. That's really not a pretty sight..... and I though the X-Bow was ugly!!
In all honesty tho', it's got to be very hard for anyone to make a car similar to the Atom / Cater-field, etc and make it look nice these days. The comparable designs are all quite well established, to compete in the same market on a styling basis it goig to be a nightmare. I wouldn't want to try to design such a car these days....

Re: Deronda Type G V8
Are Deronda really still going? It was a rough looking thing about 5 years ago, and some of the UK auto press buried it for its poor handling. All credit to them for persistence!
First Atomised 2001.
Atom (165) > Atom 2 (220) > Atom 3 (300) > Atom 3.5 (310) > Atom 4 (350).
There is no cure.

Re: Deronda Type "F" V8
Talking with the people at Auto Sport Development, they say the LS7 prototype will be at the factory this summer for our visit. They have added 5 inch to the length and totally redesigned the suspension. Like most manufactures I bet they are doing alittle wait and see what kind of public response.
Re: Deronda Type "G" V8
I received a Deronda newsletter:

WHAT'S NEW
It has been awhile since we've released new information on the development of the Deronda sports car. The last twelve months at the Trenton factory have been busy! We are happy to announce that the US version, the Deronda "Type G" is now in production. There have been some significant updates to the car which have enhanced quality, performance and safety. The first three cars are in production and orders are currently being taken for the next 15 cars.
WHAT IS A "Type G" YOU ASK?
The "Type G" is the V8 powered version of the Deronda sports car.
The engine of choice for the Deronda "Type G" will be the GM
LS2 V8 crate engine as standard. Horsepower and torque are rated at
405/405 respectively. The LS2 can be mated to a Porsche G50 transaxle.
Optional upgrades will include the GM LS7 crate engine. With the
"Type G" weighing in at 1700 lbs I guess you could say that the "G" in
"Type G" stands for GO!
Chassis # 001 with LS7
The view from your rear view mirror
A collapsible steering column is just one of the many safety upgrades.
"Type G" SPECIFICATIONS
A DOT approved windscreen is now available as seen

Re: Deronda Type "G" V8
Doesn't chrome moly get brittle if its not heat treated after welding? I thought that was one of the reasons the atom was made of mild steel.
Re: Deronda Type "G" V8
From my information Chromoly 4130 is stronger and lighter but you have to Tig weld it and stress relieve it to stop it from cracking.
Chromoly is usually reserved for those with big budgets because it cost 3-4x as much to use.

Re: Deronda Type "G" V8
It depends on thickness primarily and to some extent the weld/filler metal composition. The Atom tubing is thin enough to get away without heat treating so it's more likely a cost issue.
Thinner material does not retain the same residual stresses as the same thicker material, as a general guidline.

Re: Deronda Type "G" V8
Sorry, but I don't think that's the best colour scheme to present that car in.
