Ok, little update.

I've decided that a 4.7 is the order of the day.....I've reached the conclusion that a 4.2 with even an upgraded ecu/exhaust may disappoint......it's an unknown quantity so why not just go full vindaloo.

Spoken to a couple of garages and it would appear that you can knock 5% off any price as a starting point...particularly if no warranty is involved.....even from Maserati specialist.

Anyone have an idea if 5% is reasonable or should I go for more.....suppose if you don't ask you don't get.

Other consideration (sorry economics once again) is I'm sat in usd$ and sterlings beginning to tank.
Currently 1.56 from 1.64.....situation deteriorating.....1.40 or less means another 10% discount and that's a possibility given this mess.....and more printing from the BOE!

Yup, very nice too.

Heard that DB9 reliability is iffy though and as it's a 6litre the already bonkers car tax goes stratospheric!!

Right, just a little update.
Loads of gorgeous black Gts on the market just now. Problem is, that's exactly the same colour as the Alfa we have at the mo and boy does it take some cleaning. I'm not a slave to the 'shammy' so have resisted temptation....black is gorgeous when it's clean....but after a day we can see dust and it soon loses it's luster.
Part of the problem is the car will sit outside permenantly and i'll have to move the Atom a yard or so up the driveway under the cover and squeeze the mazza in behind it. the garage isn't sealed so I need to fabricate some sort of tarpaulin type cover to keep it in the shade and as bird poo free as possible.
i'm decided on silver with red calipers and either black leather interior or red (I know sounds awful) but it's bloody lovely. Bose and all standard features. Rear Parking sensors are a must cos it's big...I'll need em for help, let alone Kel.

It's crazy, stupid money...not for the buying cos I reckon it's great value. It's the tax over here that is ridiculous.....it's another Atom and that hurts. It's even got me questioning Atom ownership...should I sell and put the cash towards it.

UK GARAGES are desperate for deals, they will all nearly offer 2-3 grand off.....and seem more Keen to do so as the month end approaches. Sales targets to hit I suspect. Nearly all the ones I have talked to, drive a hard bargain...and then come back with a better deal.....

You guys are bad, Ben, Mellado got me questioning what I was doing....xfr's lovely, db9 volantes, gorgeous.....never thought I'd be in a position to dream about such stuff, let alone buy one

But you Know what, the Mazza  ( and my hearts set on it- don't wanna be 70 and wish if only) can never replace the Atom. Pound for pound there is nothing else  as special,as good for thrills, spills and excitement....value for money, attention and to be part of a unique bunch of owners who enjoy the same feeling is very special.

Nope can't afford that or the sunburnt head Stew though I wish could.

The Aston volante is very nice and great value for what it is.....2005 cars are very reasonable, chance to be James Bond ....for reasonable money...with full service histories.  Chance to live a dream.

When you look at the choice of cars available at sub 60k it really is incredible. If I was in the Uk my priorities might be different...track focussed would definately be on the agenda....GT3 seems unbeatable value, jags sub Gbp 40k for awesome engineering, merc sls for refined cruising, BMW '5s for awesome practicality and performance.

Choice is a terrible thing....it's probably never been so good. I hate being addicted to cars....each  time I buy a car I say it's the last.....and then I get the feeling.....ohhh , once I get the Mazza I'll be happy for a while, then BAC will release the duo be in a couple of years...... And I'll be in rehab.

Get The SC for the Atom you already have :o and feel the difference - that should keep the  :) miles on the up and may quell the pangs for more metal...well for a short while at least! or until the dealers are all on their knees giving the 4 seater GT away  :tu:

Funnily enough I asked Ariel about the cost for  shipping that and having my Honda guys fit it.

Didn't feel  comfortable tho......don't need the extra kick and not sure about the whiiiiine. The car hasn't missed a beat in  some pretty extreme heat conditions so why jeapordise it?

As a 245 owner the only thing I felt the car ever lacked was the bark to back up the the bite. The sports exhaust has done the job on that one.if I was tracking it I might feel differently...more power might be the key.....to compliment my Senna driving style :roflp:

Atom - every box ticked for road use for me. No additions required....run out of pose options. :(

Ridiculous, thing is, you could almost buy  a second hand db9 and Aston for the Mazza cost in the UK.What a garage! What fuel bills, what insurance costs and maintenance fees!
Ahhhh fogetabatit......what fun you'd have!

Cos of tax, gotta choose 1......just waiting for the right car.

On the subject of lust and desire I'm about to trade in the Multispaz for a Honda FRV.

Now that's what I call living the dream. Fact.

Wattie,

If you want to save on shipping costs by having me drive the car down to Cyprus let me know.  It can't take that long can it?

That would be a fun drive Ben....thought about it doing it too...only problem is i think very few countries if any now ferry to Cyprus.

Greek ferries stopped this year and haven't resumed.

Not sure it'd save money........can't help but feel fuel economy would be low teens all the way back (drving within all limits of course) so the bill could be rather large  ;D

I reckon you would get closer to 20s for most of the drive as it would be motorway based for time purposes

Nearly bought this last week...it was rocking my world.

http://www.dicklovett.co.uk/Dealers/Maserati/Used-Car-Details/Maserati-GranTurismo_S-Grigio_Touring-2008-17532357.html

Then i discovered it had the standard stereo......not the Bose job that virtually every other car has specced.

Never fails to amaze me how someone could spend all that cash on a new car.....and then penny pinch a few hundred quid on the sound system ???

Gutted....I hate having to be be patient.
