...even though it never left F1. 

I assume the Brits are happy that Silverstone will host the GBGP for at least the next several years.  I've never been there, but on TV it seems like one of the great tracks, especially in this era of new Tilke gimick tracks & money spending contests.

[/quote]Well and truly. It's a mess and may never live as a race track again. I'm just glad I drove there, but sad I didn't do it last season.

There's a break clause after 10 years at Silverstone, but 17 means they can put some proper infrastructure in - even with a 5% per annum price hike (apparently Bernie wanted 7%).

Did the last every trackday at Donnington - what a circuit, probably the best I have been on.

However, never did Silverstone - one day....

I think it is a disaster - Silverstone is very dull to watch.

I think driving it would be fun - I have only tried in torrential rain and it was miserable !! But in the dry I think it would be great.

Bit like Abu Dhabi - great to drive, rubbish to watch.

I agree about Donington, it was IMHO the best UK track that I have driven.  Nowhere near as good as Spa though.

Donnington had it all - with one of the scariest sections I have done on track - down the esses to old hairpin.

Really gutted that I may well have missed out on Donnington. As for Spa, I can't believe anything in Europe could beat it (The Ring is different so excluded from my thoughts). I like the look of the Arena section too, although I really like driving  Bridge Corner.

I cannot see how the new Arena section will change the basic problem with Silverstone in that there is no change in elevation anywhere. The best circuits need that. Look at Eau Rouge at Spa or the Corkscrew at Laguna.

i was there 2 years ago for the first time and i can tell you it wasnt dull IMO........tv really doesnt do it justice.
the speed carried through bridge corner defies logic, truly amazing track and astounding cars.
hope to attend another race sometime in the future.

I agree too.  The other great thing about the British GP is that there's a good chance it will be wet, makes for much more exciting racing!
