Invent An Acronym...
Invent An Acronym...
After reading this topic - http://forum.atomclub.com/index.php/top ... msg180284- this got me thinking about how to waste some time.
So invent an acronym, can be about anything as long as it is real and has more than 2 letters.
I will start.
DHL - Dull, Hardly Luxurious.

Re: Invent An Acronym...
Even funnier that the responses qualify, but the initial example is an abbreviation, not an acronym.
An acronym is pronounceable, whereas many other abbreviations are not.
This was the distinction I had learned, but I see that many other sources have relaxed the definition. (I knew one persnickity scholarly type who insisted that an acronym had to be an existing word - that laser, scuba, snafu, etc didn't qualify.)
"Bits Of Engine In Neighbor's Garden" made the rounds a few years ago when Boeing was having some problems.

We were also taught . . . .
"Read over your good books in vain"
and in the early 60s one of my science teachers came out with another one when we had a large group of German exchange students in our class . . . .
"Remember Oh Ye Germans, Britain Is Victorious"
as you can imagine, everyone was stunned into silence and didn't know which way to look.
