Progressive versus Collector Auto Insurance Specialists (Rally)

Post by RyanD » Sun Jun 03, 2007 12:27 am

I already added my Atom to my Progressive policy, but it's quite expensive.  It's insured under a stated value policy, but otherwise it's a normal vehicle policy.  I called Collector Auto, and they gave me a quote that is about 1/3 of Progressive, but it sounds much more restrictive.  I asked them to send me a copy of the policy so I can review it.  Is the Progressive policy worth 3 times as much?

It just depends on what you do with your car.  Collector works really well for me because I dont drive to work and the car pretty much stays in the garage when I'm not driving it.  It was not worth te extra money for progressive

Progressive is not 100% either.  Others have had the coverage then someone at Progressive then decides they are not going to cover you.  That happened to darth and they gave him a totally bogus reason and dropped him.

I defintely won't be driving it to work, but I want to make sure it's ok to drive it around town, to the track, etc.  6000 miles is more than enough, so I don't need unlimited mileage from Progressive.

Collector should be fine.  Basic rule I use is dont expect anyone to cover you on the track.  Sean said if it was a driving school though that would probably be covered.
