What is it with windshields?

Post by Bruce Fielding » Thu Jan 18, 2007 12:10 pm

Can anyone explain why DMV is so keen on windshields (and therefore wipers)

Is it a Ralph Nader hangover or what?

Did someone sue the governemnet for having a bee fly into their face or something?

Lawyers are only happy to make a buck from personal injury trials.  The insurance companies lobby the state to make laws that suit their profit margins too.  Windshields are the same thing as motorcycle helmet laws.  A liability concern.

Because idiots ruined it back in the 40's-50's? Chopping tops off, getting dirt, sand, and rocks kicked up in their eyes loosing control of their cars and killing themselves and innocents? Before proper helmets were invented...

hey at least it's a theory... :)

There is no windhield requirement in the great state of Texas.  Wipers are required only if you have a windshield. 8) :tu:

i know that.. :) Lots of States don't, then again some do have them.

And now this thread gets moved to the State Registration area BECAUSE it points out direct areas for DMV officials to look at to deny a prospective registration. ???

Well, when I heard a lorry had blown over and killed the driver of the car it landed on I decided not to go out for my daily drive in the Atom.

I reckon that with the wings on it would have definitely taken off and I would have ended up being an .
