Stupid, but Maybe...
Stupid, but Maybe...
Hey Fellas,
With all of the registering hang-ups that US owners are having with the Atoms, would it be possible to buy some beat up Fiero, register it, put the plates on the Atom, and when you get pulled over claim that it's a Fiero-based kit? Like I said, it's probably stupid, but I'm trying to think outside of the box here.

Better off to say you modified your CobaltSS with a new tube frame. Bonus points if you get Chevy Alloys on it as well.
Re: Stupid, but Maybe...
Why not just get a P.O. Box in an area that's easier to deal with and register it there?
Re: Stupid, but Maybe...
I said something to that effect awhile ago. Oregon specifically where it is already street legal.
Re: Stupid, but Maybe...
What about putting dealer plates on it? Again, I'm not sure of the legality of it, but maybe...
Re: Stupid, but Maybe...
It would work, however -
You'd have to get a dealer licsense (not cheap)
Adds another layer of insurance regulations, and these are hard enough to get covered already
And dealer plates can't cross state lines
So - does that work for you?

Plus the vehicle STILL must be a registrable car in your State. Dealer plates are not going to get you around the requirements.
