APOLOGIES - for the forum being down yesterday

Post by ross » Wed Oct 03, 2007 8:05 am

Hi all,

Please accept my apologies for the problems with the forum yesterday.  It was caused by the service provider deciding to move the physical location of the box from one site to a new site.  Unfortunately because they 'forgot' that this forum is the only thing running on that box, they didn't let me know.  In theory the move shouldn't have taken long anyhow, but it seems like that didn't go to plan.

Anyhow, it's back up, but I'm told there may be a some bits of downtime while they test a few things.  In the meantime, I'm going to talk to them about moving the forum onto a more 'official' server so this kind of thing doesn't happen again.

Once, again, sorry for the hassle - I did spend a lot of yesterday trying to to get it fixed, but I think there were a few communication issues.

Cheers, Ross.

Ditto... got a Full Face helmet instead of my open face one, put on the leathers and had to go for a evening/night time drive to get my Atom Fix!

Panic is overrated. Uplugging the phone and having a G&T always helps get things up and running quicker when that sort of thing happens here.

(Not that any of our servers go down, ever...)  ;)

Server is nothing to do with me, my panic was caused by not being able to access the forum.  I had to talk to real people for god's sake

Just so I'm clear, this wasn't a technical issue.  The box was moved from one hosting centre to another but obviously it's reconnection wasn't exactly top of anyones priority list and I wasn't given any warning.

Cheers, Ross.
