Glossary

Post by wisp » Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:48 pm

After a post where bolus confused me by using HD for High Definition, I wondered if a glossary in this "Forum Related Questions" area might be a good idea.

For things like IMO, BTW, OTOH, FOB, etc that not all us older PC users immediately understand.  ???

Also for Atom specific things like PBBC, RBBC, ECU, etc.

The topic should probably be locked and only edited/added to by a moderator, so all us smarties  don't get too comical and add a load of rubbish.

I found some Internet slang phrases on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFAIK but their not likely to have Atom specific abbreviations.

Just a thought.

Sounds good to me.

This is the first, and only, forum I've been on and in the beginning it used to take me ages to work out what was being said.

I still struggle at times but that link might help.

There's one I still haven't worked out yet that I saw somewhere on here - DEQ  ???

A translation please anyone.

PS. wisp, what do you mean "us older PC users" your only 2 according to your profile?

There are loads of sites if you search for "Internet acronyms"

http://www.gaarde.org/acronyms/?lookup=A

Some of them may cause problems with English/American, but hey that's half the fun.  ;)
