How do you get multiple quotes into a reply?
How do you get multiple quotes into a reply?
I know how to get one quote by clicking on the button provided, but how are you putting multiple quotes in to one reply?
Re: How do you get multiple quotes into a reply?
you may have to manually copy the 2nd part you want to quote and paste it, then while it is completly selected hit the Quote icon. It'll look something like this (i replaced the brackets so it would visually look like what you see in the Editor window):
{quote} person's Quote {/quote}
yada Yada yada
{quote}2nd Quote {/quote}
more yadya yada yada
=======================
If you have problems with that get your Skype warmed up and I'll walk you through it personally.

Re: How do you get multiple quotes into a reply?
actually... no.. you don't have to do it that way.
if you scroll down to the topic summary while you're creating a reply, you can see "insert quote" on the right hand side of each persons prior posts. Just hit that.

Just remember that the quote is inserted where ever you have the cursor placed.
You can only use this method if both posts to be quoted are on the same page.

That's why I have the forum open in 2 tabs in IE so I can copy and paste from wherever I want something along the lines of what Driver said.

I even go looking for links to other threads I want to mention so I can add them in.
Such as if I wanted to refer to the "heated" discussion that ensued in the Hamsters Crash thread for instance.

Re: How do you get multiple quotes into a reply?
I said "may". Yes the single page works as well, but also some browsers don't work with the quote button AT ALL. The javascript this version of the forum software breaks it. So in these two examples there are 2 ways to do it. If either works for John, fine.

Yes, cutting and pasting between multiple browser windows is often the best solution. Especially if your quoting from a different topic.
I also like to embed my post put links in my replies that refer to additional information.
The quote from another topic with an embedded link, below, is a good example.

That's just how its done. of course you can always edit down the quotes as well, so that your reply is focused.
such as;
Now to get back to the Hamster crash thread and rip Haymanator to bits
Then of course you can re-use a quote to really put your point across.

if you want to manipulate somebody's quote, then thats easy too.
Now to get back to the Hamster crash thread and rip Haymanator's trousers off. so i can kiss his arse to bits, yum!
Only kidding Driver, well that's what i want you to tell my wifeÂ
The beauty of being able to quote others is, it means one has to really READ what they have said, to use their quotes, and quiet often, one might find, that with a second look, something that one thought was there, wasn't.Â
