Southern California: Button Willow Track Day, December 17
Southern California: Button Willow Track Day, December 17
I have a private track day at Button Willow on Sunday, December 17 open to two Atom owners. Mr. Woolery has claimed the first spot, so there is currently one spot left.
Some details about the event:
This is a private event, with a total of 12 cars on the track.
The cost is going to be around $300-$325, and you'll get to run ALL day long from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM - no groups.
There will be opportunities to run reverse track, skid pad, etc. as well.
Lunch will be provided.
Button Willow is a pretty technical track (albeit fun!), and there will probably be 3-4 instructors available for you to ask questions, drive with, etc.
Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

I have run that track in a Spec Racer, it would be perfect for an Atom. I'm tempted.

Hi Ken
The track day is full - I've forgotten to update the post, my apologies. I've got two Atoms and a handful of Lotuses for the track event.
If you're interested in something like this in the future, definitely send me an e-mail, and I'll keep you in the loop. kym@kymphan.net
We usually run at Button Willow and the Streets of Willow at Willow Springs.

FYI, this track day has been rescheduled for 30 December due to weather. Unlike our UK friends, we Californians melt if we ge wet.

I've noticed you don't run race meetings in the US if there's a drop of damp in the air either. Why is that? The racing is MUCH better/more exciting/more skillful in the wet.

If you truely feel that way Mr. Bruce, perhaps we can afford to send you some of this countrys many lawn sprinklers. You could perhaps, locate them randomly throughout your favorite tracks. I suppose we could send a vat of oil for a few of those special double apex's you havee if you fancy.

Sadly, they're still banned in this part of the world... I think we're officially designated semi-arid
However, slippery surfaces on track do separate the wheat from the chaff... Races in the rain are always better for the spectators (and the accomplished drivers, too)

Rain is always a great leveler in Formula 1, the power of the cars becomes less relevant and the handling / car control everything. Jean Alesi used to shine in mediocre cars in the rain, Shumacher and Hill both put in some stunning drives in the wet.

Never forget Jack Brabham, driving his own BT-19, winning at the Nurburgring (the REAL one) in the wet in 1966!
