Eagles Canyon Raceway at Decatur, Texas- Track Day this Sat, Nov 20!

Post by FourFather » Wed Nov 17, 2010 1:59 am

The forecast right now is for full sun and temp in the 70's!

I plan to be there with my new 2011 Ariel Atom 3 demo, and I love to show it and tell about it. This one is completely stock with no modifications, or even adjustments, so it is representative of the performance you can get, straight from the factory.

The silver trailer and white Ford van in the background of this picture, is where we'll be. I'm the one with the white shoes.      And white hair- :wize:

I'm in the middle of having my nose panels repainted but if it's done by Saturday I'll come out for sure, and get on track if they will let me.

Silver, hope you can make it. I sure enjoyed the last time you and I and Spanky all had our Atoms on track! You'd probably enjoy looking over my new Atom 3 demo!

Here it is at Hallett Halloween-

I just brought my freshly painted panels home so I can go tomorrow, do I need to call someone to make sure I can actually go on track?

or do I just show up...and if so what time are you arriving on track?

Silver, Call Maggie now at the track office- 940-466-9775 and tell her you are coming. I understand you can get track time tomorrow for the standard track fee, but confirm that with her.

I'm planning on arrival around 8 AM.

I like the windshield.....sure would make it easier to concentrate on track when you're head's not being blown around, I don't have one, but I would like one.

So how was it?  How is the extra power on track?

I don't have any facts to base it off of but I do believe I got to significantly higher top speeds in the straights, either way it felt good.

I put probably 70 on track miles and the engine was perfect, then it drove me another 40 miles home :) , the IAT2's got up to 178 peak on the longest straights and then recovered immediately.....the temps on the cool down lap got down to 130, which is about 3 minutes, and were at ambient again before the next session.

what's most evident is that I need slicks to put the power down, I'd have to wait longer than Tom who was on slicks to put the hammer down coming out of turns.  We compared our notes on where it felt slippery and hands down obvious answer once again supports that you will greatly improve your track times if you run on slicks.
