Interview with Simon Saunders
I talked for an hour and a half with Saint Simon (of blessed memory).
OH, my, it's late.
Got some good information about the Atom . . .
I am really tired: must go to bed
. . . and future Ariel cars.
More later.
Yr fthfl srvnt,

Re: AtomFest... not to have been missed... pics too
I think the line up was photoshopped!! We cannot have the record of 24 Atoms in one photo held in America. (I was a sleep when the photos were being taken. I was so upset I missed out. )
Re: AtomFest - Saturday - Day 3
He did a great job. Some of us were there watching Jacob interview Simon. Rick the video camera man and myself were actually on the edge of our seats listening and filming the 2nding half of the interview. Jacob, I think we caught everything that your tape recorder missed.

All in good time, Jammer. :-)
I must type up a draft, send it to the interviewees to check for accuracy, get an okay from 1965Cobra427, and then post the interviews.

Man reading all this stuff is so much fun. I had an unbelievably great time, but it is clear, I missed out on a lot. I now I would have enjoyed the ride in the Cadillac or Yank Tank as some brits call them. The nudie bar must have been a sight to behold, "TITS AHOY MATES", Bucket of them. After meeting The Masked Spaz, I know all you have to do is wait a minute and he will be up to something entertaining. It sounds like he provided that in spades.

Just to be quite clear and for the benefit of anyone who didn't go, it was NOT a 'nudie bar' - just a wet T-Shirt competition.
The Dutch, however, take these things very seriously...

Forget it being a nudie bar, titty bar or even just a bar. It was more like a hilbilly sea world. Next time I'm taking a harpoon.
Re: AtomFest - Saturday - Day 3
I've seen dives before... but,.... geez! The mens room used plywood as a divider for the stalls, the only thing the soundsystem had going for it was the ability to periodically squeal, hurt your ears and further deafen you, and the lighting did nothing to hide the obscenity that was Rob dancing. The women there? Well nobodys exaggerated about that yet. As I said when I was there, I need to go look at internet porn for the next few weeks to try and erase those images from Saturday night and the wet t-shirt contest from my mind.
CalScott, anywhere, anytime, I'll 'come with' if you'll have me along.
Spaz, you could have a good time at a wake as long as there's props to be made or a guise to take on. Like Peter, anywhere, anytime.
John Lloyd must have been taking it easy, becuase other than a bucket and some rather tame stuff he was keeping a low profile on night 2.
Whomever the person's name was that was writing fat girl jokes on the napkins I don't want to go to a deep south bar full of black people, we'd all get killed.
Rob, your a sick, mad, reject from a Austin Powers movie dutch boy.

Lol.
To give another point of view it was my kind of place
i) Beer was really really cheap, then again it was Budweiser to one could argue it was merely at its fair market value.
ii) Good welcome by the locals who could easily have got pissed off at us coming in and taking over their bar
iii) Live music beats a juke box / piped music any day
iv) Best fun I have had in ages
It reminded me in many ways of the bars in those Clint Eastwood films with the monkey (every which way but loose and any which way you can)

After Friday night there was no way the jagermister was coming out, with a 20hr plus journey home starting at 8am the next morning. I even had a bottle of water at one point
Of everything American the bar was for me the most American thing, mainly, because it was such an unexpected extra and joy. Ditto Ben on the beer cheap and cheerful women, I loved the live band. The dancing was fun and everyone mixed well, sometimes that sort of mixing could go horribly wrong, but luckily the locals were too interested in fighting each other. The pickup truck was fun, I'm not sure it would fit down most of the roads around here!!
