Help,
The torque setting I need is for the exhaust manifold retaining nuts/bolts on a n/a 265 (i think / maybe 245) atom. :-[
One of the downpipes cracked off around a weld and it's now fixed and ready to put back on. :)

thanks. ;D

Well, I've found some manifold torque settings but I'm not sure if they are for the Honda.
They are 106 lbs ft for the nuts, sound a bit much to me  ???

yeah, no way, thats way too much.

Small bolts like what you are looking at there are typically 15-20, and no more.

Thanks for the reassurance :)
They were VERY tight when they came off so I think we are looking at about 40 lbs ft when I put them back or maybe I'll bin the torque wrench and do it like I used to do the TVR, That never fialed me  :o

Thanks for those,
can't seem to get the manifold ones though, even the blokes at the Honda dealership wouldn't tell me, they were very cagey and either couldn't or wouln't tell me.
What is the big secret with these engines ?
I should have said it was a Honda type 'R' that I was fixing ;)

Can someone make this thread a 'sticky' please so it's easier to find? Doesn't show up well in searches as it's not been posted to for so long!

Also, could somebody correct the initial post - 5/8" rod end torque should be 120nm - confirmed by factory today  :tu:

Thanks,

Bod

Up from 96 to 120Nm! That's a bit different. Don't fancy doing all that lock wiring again so I think I'll leave them at 96 for now. Seem to have been ok for last few months

Sutol - exhaust manifold retaining bolts (bolts to head) tighten in a criss cross pattern to 44nm (info from MaRis - Honda.com)

Simples  :tu: - anything else you need to know just holler.
I also have a full uptodate Autodata at my disposal. But I like to use the manufacturers guidelines.

Seasons greetings all!

I'm probably being thick/blind, but I've read through this a number of times and can't see the torque setting for the big 1/2 inch hex bolts on the big rod ends that mount the wishbones onto the uprights. Could someone please let me know what they should be tightened to and if its in ft/lbs or Nm?

Cheers :)

They're 5/8" not 1/2" and third on the general list  ;)

Ah ha! That explains it then ;)

The rod ends are 1/2 inch but the retaining hex nuts are 5/8 inch!

I was blindly fixated on the 1/2 inch bit :embarassed:

I must have had too many mince pies.....

Not sure where I'm getting the 1/2 inch bit from then, but it would seem I've imagined/made it up  ;D
