Thanks Jon. Just need to think of something to go with it for his upcoming brother/sister! I suspect my online racing will be curtailed even further in the coming months. kids eh?

Re: Simulator software
i'm a fan of LFS (live for speed, www.lfs.net). impressively realistic and lots of datalogging and analysis.
here's a video clip of driving the 'mini' on a street circuit
http://www.dpcars.net/lfs1.mpg
and yes, that's atom bodywork in the background and yes the steering wheel stand is made from spare dp1 suspension arms.

Re: Simulator software
I think I have mentioned this before, but I'll reiterate.
GT4 with the 'Ring in it gave a friend of mine sufficient track knowledge to go there and post a reasonably impressive time.

Ditto with the owner of the company that makes Hypers... http://www.superkartworld.net/news/news ... nov06.html
Then they used Grand Prix Legends software. Nowadays they use rFactor a lot. I had a turn in one last nigh and tried the ring in a Holden 5.0L V8. Good fun.
Some nice step ups. I need to do something myself for home. At present I manage 1/2-1 hour at the race centre, in one of their Hypers, about every 3-6 months.

Great fun and realistic enough for me! Here's my 'rig' although not really in the same league as Jon's setup! These monitors have been replaced now with some bigger ones.

Jon B,
Picture please.
Ross,
Are the 3 monitors a feature supported by the software or is it the image split in a video card just for effect?

Currently I use a Matrox Triplehead device which effectively fools Windows into thinking the three monitors are one very wide one. I have the analogue version at the moment, but you'd want to get the digital version (supports a wider set-up and options to adjust the pictures to effectively account for the bezels - I find though that your eyes/brain quite happily deal with those once you're driving).
The extra width provides a much greater sense of speed. When in Windows, you can configure it to either provide a very wide desktop or simply use only the middle screen.
Only issue I've had so far is that with GTR2 there's some kind of bug that doesn't like the higher resolutions available so I have to use a lower resolution (I think it's 3072 x 768). Not a major problem but slightly annoying. In GTL (which I play mostly), I can use 3840 x 1024.
Cheers, Ross.

Re: Simulator software
I like this setup.

Re: Simulator software
after trying to work with LFS we released the dp4 for rfactor a bit over a month ago http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Palatov+dp4
there is a youtube video with the turbo, awd version at laguna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py94i5EAuHw - no we haven't built one of this spec in real life yet, but hoping to this year.
i'm quite impressed with rfactor overall and the ability to create cars for it is great. we'll be using it as a development tool to supplement real-world testing. from what i hear redbull F1 and some other teams are using it as well. pc-based simulation has come a long way!

Re: Simulator software
It's rFactor Pro that a few of the F1 teams are using:-

Great that you've modelled your DP4 in rFactor though!
