Castle Combe Track day(s)

If you race your Atom or use it hard on track, here's a place to discuss strategy and swap tips.

Right, what's going on here?

I'm happy to try and promote Ariel track outings, but someone needs to throw me a bone.

19th August is up on FB and it looks like we have a yes from Peter255, Winmoz and hk65 - and a maybe from Sir Nick and deepdurks.

28th August is a yes from Peter255 and Winmoz. Anyone else? Is this worthy of a FB post yet?

dannsimmons - any news on others joining you on the 11th September?

I don't 'get' track days - I prefer events where either IanG nearly kills a cow or deer head-on, or where TBev or Trigger nearly kill a cow or deer through collateral gravel damage.

Regardless, I'm happy to collate all this info and see if we can encourage others to join.

So who is going where and when peeps? Let's make it a party!

Looks like it’s just the Berkshire Boys/Berks (?) on this little jaunt then.
Karl, I do think you need to spec a special track day bonnet and join us.
We’ll reciprocate by joining a Salisbury hoon (honest )

Would love you join you on this at Combe but it's too far for me. When I get a trailer it will be better. At the moment I have been paying for my car to be transported around and this gets expensive.

PRG are your blokes if you fancy a bespoke trailer designed to fit the Atom. I got them to make me a hydraulic lift beavertail to fit in my very small garage. Very happy with it - tows very well.

No news from others about 11 Sept at Castle Combe, Karl.
I just thought I’d mention it in case any Ariel owners wanted to connect during the day. Last time I looked tickets were still available.

Thanks Dan. We've still got a month or so to go, so maybe a bit more interest closer the time.

Feel free to add an event on the FB Group if you want. From memory, there are something like 1,000 active users on the FB page per month. We may catch some attention there too...

I need a trailer that can fit a car 2m wide. Ideally a flat bed with a winch and then I will find a fabricator to make roll over hoops to enclose it. The Brian James race shuttle trailers are like £12k!!

I’ve always thought this would be the route to go with such a low to the ground car like an Atom. Sort of follows the less-is-more ethos, in many ways. Why have the clam shell any taller than it needs to be, after all. The knock on effects on stability/ fuel consumption are almost a bonus, next to the obvious cost savings.

Cheers,
Hedge

FYI the track session tomorrow is cancelled. Biblical rain forecast all day, and no garages for hire at Combe. nah! :td:

I will look into September dates to maybe align with Dan. :tu:
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.
