Cant' do 3/4 max revs while static in mine, as I mentioned a while back.  Rev limiter kicks in at about 5000rpm.

Sounds like launch control enabled in the ECU with a launch rpm limit of the default 5500

These days I don't give them any more than 4500 on a static test even though mine hits the limiter around 8000

Interesting, sounds about the right limit.  And I thought it was to protect the internals, as no load on the engine.

Also, I can't begin to imagine doing a launch with 5500rpm.... unless I wanted to leave the tyres smeared on the tarmac.

Might be a default [on] with newer motors. My '05 atom 2 certainly has no such protection enabled

Agree. I notice there's a burnout option too

Driven Bedford numerous times,  standard exhaust no cat never been a problem. Need to avoid "convoy" past the mics as this can set off the meter. I always stay overnight as its a 3/4 hour trip towing. from darkest Dorset. Queens Head @

I fancy doing this as my very first track day in the Atom. Got to say I'm a little concerned about the noise levels. Are the Deb apps on mobile phones any good?

I'm booked in for this and like others I'm a little concerned about the noise levels. I've done Bedford many times in different cars without issue before, I'm just hoping this isn't  the one I get thrown off or not allowed on. My car is 3 s/c and de-catt is there anything I can do to improve my chances?

Cheers

Hi Steve

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, I think there's at least 4 Atoms booked in now.
I've done Bedford many times and usually register 92/93 on their static meter, same spec as yours. I have removed tea tray in the past not that it made that much difference, I really don't think it will be a problem

Hi Bill,

Thanks for that. I'm hoping there will be a few Atom drivers so they can show me how it's done.

Hi guys,

I have also booked for Saturday and this will be my first full day track day in the car. Looking forward to meeting some other atom owners and hopefully getting some tips as long as I get past the noise test.

I'm not booked in as I always check the weather first, but I'll be along and if there's space, I'll buy a slot.

Don't worry... Spots always become available on the day.

Black flags and scenery interfaces always leave some room...

Just have a lay in and get there about 10:30 / 11:00.

And ready cash on the nail doesn't do any harm either...

Want to go up to Bedford together, Max? Promise you first dibs on any slot going...
