Spa May 9th/10th

Post by Old Bill » Sun Jan 10, 2016 12:57 pm

Happy new year to all,

Any one interested in a trip to one of the best circuits in Europe. Monday 9th & Tuesday 10th May?
Track organiser RMA. £750 (2 days)
They also have discounted rooms @ Hotel La Source 115 euro per night single occupancy. Tel +32 87795800

Myself and fellow Atom owner Dan have just booked both days. It would be great to see a few atoms there this year

Out of the last 3 years (6 Days) i have only had a half day of rain, last year 30 degrees, so travelling with great optimism.

Hope you can make it to this awesome track. When booking with the wonderfully named Annalese Ferrari include on your booking form that you wish to share a garage, they usually arrange for up to six cars to share @ a cost of approx £40 per car for both days. Registration & briefing take place on Sunday evening at the Hotel, so no track time wasted on Monday.

if its £275 a day why are you paying 750 for 2?

Just be aware if you are doing RMA Trackdays that you will usually get a lot of race teams practicing.
This can be good or bad depending on your confidence levels.
There will usually be overtaking on both sides and racing drivers rarely understand the concept of not overtaking in corners.
Also, I have been told that RMA days will no longer be covered by some insurers as they are deemed test days rather than track days due to the number of race teams in attendance.

I'm not trying to scaremonger in any way but just those with less experience should be aware.

Cheers,
Stu

Hi Stu
I've been to a few RMA days including last year @ Spa, you're correct about overtaking either side, I don't mind that to be fair. Last year there was a great cross section of cars including an historic  "D" type race car to a 750hp Aventador to Clios. It seems that most track days are made up of race teams practising for forthcoming events, cheaper than test days.
My last Javelin day @ Donington I would say was a 50/50 split.

Hi Bill,

Agreed, I don't mind it either, in fact I quite like it.

It's just that if someone is relatively inexperienced I wouldn't gravitate towards RMA, especially at Spa where the speed differences can be huge.

That and Graham's legendary people skills of course ;D

Cheers,
Stu

Hi Bill,

Some encouragement for fellow Atom drivers...  this is how I spent my 60th...!

I like RMA and yes, Graham's briefings are a wonderful "assault" on the senses, something any serious trackday driver will relish  ;D

Checking my diary..

I'd love to but I'm doing spa and the ring as a double header in September.
As I'm doing the alps trip soon after,  ive sadly got to do some work apparently  :-
Hope to see you on a UK one though!
I've just arrived at a very chilly Cadwell!
Cheers,
