Avon ZZR Tyres - my best ever Atom tip!

Post by AndyG » Tue Nov 12, 2013 11:25 pm

Hi Guys

Just to let you know I've been using Avons ZZR tyres and I have to say that to my mind they are SO much better than anything else I've used.

In my Supercharged Atom I was killing A048's at an insane rate - a set of rears per trackday - the Avons have now managed

Knockhill
Leman
Dijon
Addenau de Rhin
Driftland
Oulton

And I drove to the French tracks from Edinburgh.

With the Yokos likely to go up another 20% in price in 2014, i could recommend these more highly, and the best thing is they can better as they ware on track as its a genuine cut slick.

I've been using them at 12 psi front, and 18 back - but that was at a wet Oulton at the weekend.

Also worth noting if you want a set (I think from memory about £480) you have to call Avon Motorsport direct.

Any questions feel free, but I cannot believe the difference, and my mates in the Lotus Championship racing on them are reporting lap times of 1-2 seconds faster than last years times.

Has anyone else tried them yet?

Andy - are the ZZR's road legal? I know you said that you'd driven to the French tracks, but I just wanted to check.

yes they are, I had them on my car on purchase, but unfortunately they were too hard, even than they were pretty good on grip. Wanted to fit new ones, but were hard to find in the Netherlands, I didn't know you could buy direct, but in the mean time they do so (lotus guys over here)

A buddy of mine won the Lotus Cup with them... Highly recommended as well.

Just waiting for my Toyos to wear out to try them...
