I am sure it should be obvious to all owners, but just in case a newbie sees this: Tracking without a helmet is madness in my opinion. Not least because a lot more crap is thrown up off of the track than in normal road driving conditions. I have helmets with gouges out of them where I have been hit full on in the face. Very surprised the track allowed this.

+1. Got hit by a large chunk of rubber at Brands on Monday doing about 120 just before braking for Paddock Hill. It gets your attention even with a full face helmet on. :o

I simply cannot believe anyone drives around a track without a lid on.
The TDO's are muppets to allow it and the drivers themselves deserve a brick in their gobs, IMO.

Blimey - lighten up a little lads. On a sighting lap at 50 odd it isnt that bad. I drive on the road regularly with just sunglasses, and so do alot of Atom drivers.

Trig

Morgy stated that those guys never wore helmets all day; hence my comments.
Sunglasses with decent quality shatter-proof lenses is ok, up to a certain speed.
Otherwise, it's lunacy, IMO.

I apologise - I thought that was in jest - if they didnt wear helmets at speed they are plain idiots !! I had 2 bird crap hits at 130-140mph at Goodwood on the straight, which would have really damaged me with no helmet - not sure what they had been eating but there must have been a stone in it coz they scratched the helmet. Where lets u drive with no helmet anyway ?

This was the result of a casual evening ride down a rural asphalt road with no traffic.

Thank God the driver was wearing a helmet when he ended up going through a barbed wire fence in my Atom!

Depends on where you're at in the states.  In Oregon, bike riders have to wear a helmet, by law.

As stated previously, it depends on the state.  I think only 19 states out of 50 allow adult riders over the age of 18 to not wear a helmet on a motorcycle.
Personally, when I see a man driving down the street on a motorcycle with no helmet I have the same opinion of them as I do of a smoker.
Its your life to throw away...... idiot.   I probably sound very snobbish, so be it.   And I think every time of my family, hoping that man doesn't have any, in case he hits a pot hole or gets tapped by a careless driver.

And every time I see an 80 year old patient barely able to walk and crapping on themselves and hating life in the $7K per month nursing home (what of it  they comprehend) I hope to myself I die in the Atom going around a track with a huge smile on my face (or I somehow magically switch brains with Eddie Hill and race Randy every weekend) :)
