Gouged frame from factory nut.

Post by flying phil » Sun Mar 05, 2023 8:13 pm

Just had my car in for service and they found a gash in the frame (...well spotted, Franz). The gash is just forward of the left rear suspension roller bearing and pivot. It was caused by a factory installed nut attaching the push rod to the pivot...the nut is too deep for purpose. It is somewhat insidious as the damage is effectively hidden by the assembly and was only spotted when the roller bearing was disassembled for lubrication. Just wondering if any of the other early TMI cars have had this issue?

This old thread describes a similar issue ?
The mounting bolt and nut has been assembled back to front causing impact and damage to the chassis.
