An Atom Across America - Again!
An Atom Across America - Again!
Yup, I'm doing it again. CalScot convinced me that Laguna Seca was just a wee drive from New York
Here's the tentative route out and back:
As always, you can follow this on my Atom Across America blog. If you're going to be anywhere along the route, drop by and say Hi!
Re: An Atom Across America - Again!
You are of course completely freaking mental...in a good way
Drive safe and looking forward to that wee dram to celebrate your 1/2 trip out

Re: An Atom Across America - Again!
And here I was thinking Dan and I were REAL crazy driving ~950 miles each way from Seattle for Laguna Seca \ WCA. Safe travels. We are taking two days.
How many for you via your inbound route? See you soon.

Each of the Google Map balloons is a stopping point. I'm budgeting a little less than 400 miles each day - that way I can push on if I need to make up time from bad weather.

Re: An Atom Across America - Again!
Skipping Death Valley and dodging the heart of the Mohave this time?
What is this, a pleasure trip?
I see you're following the route of the Mother Road through Arizona and New Mexico.
Are you planning any time on the old 2-lane?

Yes - from Bagdad to Essex, give or take.I see you're following the route of the Mother Road through Arizona and New Mexico.

I actually went through Winslow in 2004. I wasn't too impressed - rather over-commercialized.
Re: An Atom Across America - Again!
I must say that is one hell of a trip in a vehicle NOT designed for long distance travel. I wish you god speed.
Re: An Atom Across America - Again!
Terry, you lucky bastard. Good on you.
I'd have to drive up and down the whole country (with ferry trips between both islands) many times to achieve the same mileage.
All the best for a safe and smooth trip.

Re: An Atom Across America - Again!
You would think Winslow would have made more of being name checked in a the second or third most popular Eagles song.
Looks like a fantastic trip as they say it is better to travel than to arrive.

On your way back I'll have to meet up with you when you're in my neck of the woods (or desert rather). When you came by in august 2006 you settled my nerves by letting me sit in yours while mine was still in production in Ashland. Chances are though that it will be drier this time around. Good luck and god speed.

I thought it rather strange to commemorate being the place a drifter wants to move on from, but then Iowa has a statue of James Kirk and Minneapolis a statue of Mary Tyler Moore. I guess you work with what you're given. I always wanted to visit Benson, AZ with my old college buddy fans of Dark Star, but that's just me.
Sounds like another great adventure Terry - safe journey.
