What a very cool video, thanks for putting it together and sharing. After watching it, I would say you are the better/quicker driver - especially in the quick twisty's by carrying more corner speed but the Atom 4 is a faster car. I bet if you drove the 4 it would be faster.

Brands Hatch Indy Circuit
First time on track in years and first time out in the new car (just run in)
Plenty more to be had from the car and tyres. Not really pushing it in the corners or under braking.... yet.

Enjoy. :vroom:

Damp Track

Very nice. The car looks very ‘settled’ compared to the older cars.

Brands Indy, in my NA 3.5 K20 (on very tired tyres and a damp track - getting my excuses in early!)

I would agree with that. In the dry there is lots of grip, and plenty more speed to be had when I get used to it.

Didn't want to go silly first time out.. :o

Certainly looks like it picks up very quickly out of corners. What app are you using for the track overlay etc?
GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.

Nice video chaps, thanks for uploading.

The overlay looks like functionality provided directly by GoPro with GoPro's built in accelerometer and GPS chipsets. The new GoPros embed metadata into the video files when you record videos. You can then either extract this and overlay it with other data coming from AIM the ECU or whatever kit you have and create a cool vid or use GoPro Quik to add the "dials" simply by clicking "adjust gauges" in the tool. The latter is the easiest.

Here are a couple examples, it is dead easy:

gauges.png (3.03 MiB) Viewed 476 times
guages2.png
guages2.png (31.23 KiB) Viewed 476 times
btw: the Atom 4 has some fairly sophisticated technology in it with AIM technologies and specifically the AIM MXsl dash they use. This dash connects to the ECU in the car to provide so much data about pretty much everything. All you have to do is connect a GPS receiver - AIM GPS08 device to your dash to provide a tone of data about your lap times. All this is stored in the dash. Then using Race Studio 3 by AIM (free to use) to analyze your laps or even overlay all this data in your videos using something like Race Render 3. I know this is probably way more information then you needed to know! but basically the Atom 4 tech makes the Race Technologies tech as found in previous cars look like something NASA used in 1969.

I am working on some custom technology that uses all this and provides loads of new features for the driver that I will probably open up once I am happy with it.

You just need a device that records GPS, i.e. the various dashes, cameras, GoPro being one of them but there are plenty others that have GPS chipsets in them. Then use a tool like http://racerender.com/RR3/ to add the GPS data to it. GoPro just makes it easier with their stuff and I *think* that is what is shown in the video above - but could be wrong.

As Simon has said its just GPS data collected from the GoPro.

GoPro Quik software adds the gfx overlay. Looks pretty good.

You can also see the dash speedo over-reads by about 10%. lol

simonrhart I am very keen on what we can do with the dash. Keep me posted! :tu:

Car is running the 350 map.

Cheers

Copied from the specific thread:

First time around Silverstone. Took me a while to learn the layout, and was only just getting the gears right towards the end.

Select HD and the highest res you can....

Damp conditions with a drying racing line. Still learning the circuit.

Dry line but damp off the racing line. Still learning the circuit layout.

Fully dry now and getting the shift points sorted as the session progresses. Will be HD eventually when YT catches up!

Fully dry now and got most of the shift points sorted. Really enjoying it now

Still not pushing hard on the braking or cornering, but i'm still learning the car and I really enjoyed it. 8)
