I ended up using shiply to find someone, which is always a bit of a gamble but ended up with a really good result.

So I'm now happy to recommend Tom, 07481 206182

Id like to chirp in here :)

It feels as though there should be some sort of resource here, for owners to club together so we can drop and collect cars in similar locations...

I know our service is expensive if it is a 'dedicated trip' and we make one leg of the journey empty. However, it is much much more affordable if we can do a 'double run' with both legs of the journey filled.

an example:

to collect a car from say, Northampton, would be £450+VAT. Quite a lot for just the one way. now, if split between two, £225+VAT is much much more reasonable. If there is a difference of around 20-30 miles extra between locations we don't mind.

This way, you know you are getting a secure delivery - with a driver that isn't going anywhere else, in a covered trailer with experience getting Atoms in the back of a van and tieing it down.

also bear in mind we can collect anything 'on the way past' for example...
A delivery in Nottingham would be £625+VAT for a dedicated delivery. If we collect in Cheltenham on the way back... we can deliver to Nottingham for £450+VAT and collect from Cheltenham for £175+VAT.

if its of interest let me know, or, if not, no probs!

It still works out a lot of money, it’s a shame Ariel don’t have a double trailer, transporter. Then maybe we could organise two cars in and two cars out……. It may make it more doable?

Spare a thought for us Northern folk. Eight hour drive in a car, up to eleven with a trailer! Now I do like a trip down to Somerset but a service Center a little further North would be nice!

Trouble is with that, we have to be tacho'd on towing for commercial purposes, people need to take a +E licence test (i am led to believe) and we'd need a truck that was plated to tow 2000kg.

It would actually make it more expensive as we dont have any, or really need any of those things above...

Yes it is a slightly more expensive option for us to do it, but its the guarantee that your car is in safe hands, in a closed trailer that will 100% reach the Factory that same day, whilst being insured and without being outside someones house over night etc.

You all know where we are if you need us :) We dont mind if you arrange transport with a third party, either way - your car is safe and sound when its here.

And the remote service centre has been a consideration for us, but with no control over the quality of the work carried out (unless one of our guys is up there 24/7) we can't sub it out... We've seen both good work, and also absolute horror stories from 3rd party repairs! So for that reason 'im out' as the Dragans (Dragons?) would say in the Den.

Didn’t know there were two of us in Portishead!
GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.

Kelvin, have you asked the factory, I believe they can organise shipment worldwide
