Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Well done Simon.
Can this also be posted on the FB page for a wider reach?
For any changes to be considered there will need to be at least 100+ owners who express their interest in a layout change, so its going to be a challenge. Either way it still remains true that Atoms are a a work of art and those responsible for the R&D must be applauded for their innovation and flare...

Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
I'll pop in on FB now... though are there even 100 Atom 4 owners yet? Isn't that a couple of years solid production?
Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Probably not Phil, however with a 2.5 year waiting list and including current owners it must be close to 100+.
I do think targeting customers on the list is prudent as undoubtedly they will take more interest in potential improvements which could add more weight to this campaign...
Personally , for me it’s just subtle tweaks to truly hit the mark and that could just an increase in size if nothing else can be done....
After all the Atom dash is bespoke to Ariel and who wants the same look as everyone else, isn’t that why we all buy Atoms in the first place...

If you’re waiting until you reach 100+ participants, better order an Atom 5, that is not going to happen

Anymore for anymore?? we only have 9 respondents so far and that includes me!

Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Having spent the last 2 weekends driving my atom 4 and then Swapping back tonight to my Ducati motard I have to admit I want the Ducati dash on the atom!
Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Simon,
Whilst I haven’t got mine yet, I hope my voice can be added. I’ve filled in the survey

That Ducati screen is much more like it - and annoyingly there are default AIM screens that are similar.
GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.
Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Be nice to have this dash on the Nomad? Anyone know if its possible?
Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)

Genuine question... What's the fascination with a huge rev counter? You have the shift lights and get to 'feel' how hard the engine is revving.
Remember: I've never tracked a car in my life. Is it mainly for track use?
As a road user, I'd be more interested in a big nasty MpH read out.
But maybe this is the point: different layouts for different scenarios that the driver could switch between. So maybe:
Track focused (RPM)
Track focused with data logging (lap times etc.)
Road focused (MPH)
And as I design UIs for fun, maybe a 'diagnostic' view with oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, battery voltage etc. etc.
As it says on AIMs website (and I paraphrase): modern cars offer changeable views depending on requirement and this is why our displays offer just that...
Sounds to me that offering 2 or 3 layouts that can be selected without the need of a laptop is the way to go.
It'll be interesting to hear how easy it is switch to Kmph or recalibrate the speedo for different tyre sizes. Just how 'locked down' is it???

I agree with you Karl! What do Ariel say about this I wonder?

The point is, you should be able to edit AIM kit - it's expensive to buy and they pride themselves on it with all their tooling. It's like buying an expensive smart phone and not being able to install apps that you want on it because it's locked.
We are waiting for a few more people to complete the survey - we are at 13 or so now - and everyone wants the ability to change it.

Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
Did this go anywhere in the end? I notice the Atom 4 dash “upgrade” for 2/3/3.5 is a different layout (with a Rev counter dial - yes please) but that is not the same as the 4 dash. If they are playing around with the dashes do you think we might get a better layout option soon (Amstrad called and they want their Atom 4 dash layout back)
Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
I asked the question on the Instagram post and was told they aren’t changing it.

Re: Atom 4 AIM dash reconfiguration (Survey on page 4)
The new Atom 3.5 AIM dash has a lovely layout. It shows you what the 4 dash should look like IMO.
Sadly the factory have stated the 3.5 upgrade dash is a different AIM unit to the 4 dash so the config isn't compatible.
Last i heard Simon was still going to chat to Ariel to see what they say.
I will update the thread with any news.

Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.
