Re-painted brake callipers.
Just picked it up this afternoon, and love the colour. Got them done at Autowerks in Slough. I previously got a quote for the same job from BCS in the Midlands, who were quoting me well over twice the amount Autowerks did them for. Great bunch of guys there too.

SvenTheHammer Mint mate! Goes perfectly with the Ohlins.
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.
Re: Re-painted brake callipers.
Looks awesome Sven! is that yellow, or maybe gold. It matches the shocks. Do you mind saying how much it was per caliper and did you have to strip them down? if you didn't have to strip them down did they remove the seals assuming they were power coated?
I thought about getting this done, but I am not sure what I prefer tbh. I have the dark scale theme going on. With a touch of red. I was thinking red if anything but undecided, I am always nervous tinkering with performance parts I didn't put together.
Here is mine in stock form for comparison, I think I would like the AP racing logo in yellow like on the Ultima RS, with black calipers perhaps...

It’s gold heat resistant paint then lacquered, with a slight gold sparkle that you can’t really see in the pics.simonrhart wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2020 8:24 pm Looks awesome Sven! is that yellow, or maybe gold. You can have them powder coated, but it’s much more expensive. You are right, they have to strip the callipers right down to do it, then bleed them before putting them back together. They removed the callipers but didn’t need to strip them. They wanted to spray the whole Caliper, due to it being visible on both sides.
It cost £600 to do all four, but they painted my hubs black too, which really makes the gold pop in the wheels.
Mine was the first Atom they’d ever done, so it took them a bit longer than their average car, that they do day to day. They’ve done a great job as you can see.
They’ve got an unbelievable amount of colours available, and it took me quite a while to make my mind up which type of gold I wanted.
BCS quoted me nearly £1200, without painting the hubs.
I think you can have the AP logo in whatever coloured you want I think.
I’m not one for messing around with the car, so I took the car to them, and left them to do it all.
My 3.5 had a carbon black with red theme to it. The factory had the callipers painted red, but they don’t do it anymore(I asked). Then I had red flashes on the carbon bonnet and air intake by a pap who owns a car wrapping firm. Matthew Pennock (Suffolk Carbon Atom) owns my 3.5 now. He’s part of the club.

That looks great.
Do they give any kind of guarantee against it deteriorating? Appreciate you’ve said it is heat resistant.

GR Yaris CP for when it rains, Atom 4 for when it doesn’t.

Re: Re-painted brake callipers.
I just spoke to Harry, the owner of Autowerks.
They offer a one year warranty, but know they last much longer, even with regular track days(his words).
He’s happy to speak/answer questions and said to pass his number on, it’s: +44 7723 702007

Looks awesome. I was eyeing up BCS for the calipers on my 4 when it arrives. Will have to make a note of these guys!

I’m very happy with the job they’ve done. If you look on their website, they’ve worked on planty of top end cars. 911R, new Rolls Royce etc etc
Re: Re-painted brake callipers.
I’ve tried calling Harry a couple of times today, but no joy. I will try again tomorrow.
They are nice and local to me.
Thanks for the info Sven!!

What is best, power coat or to paint them? are there any pros and cons to each?

Re: Re-painted brake callipers.
I’d say the best thing would be to ask Harry at Autowerks. You’re going to get the same warranty wether you have the callipers painted or powder coated. I know the process to powder coat is much more complicated, in having to completely remove the callipers from the car, and strip them down. Hence making the process and labour involved much more, so a lot more expensive.simonrhart wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 7:54 pm What is best, power coat or to paint them? are there any pros and cons to each?
Re: Re-painted brake callipers.
Oh that's interesting... so did the callipers not have to come off to have them painted Sven?SvenTheHammer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:41 am the process to powder coat is much more complicated, in having to completely remove the callipers from the car
Re: Re-painted brake callipers.
Do you guys know if Ariel will give you the calipers before your car is built to get them sprayed? I wonder whether I'd be able to get the calipers and panels (Plan to wrap the panels) once the chassis was ordered so I'd have the car looking exactly how I want it on collection.
