The market has to open somewhere . ~15k premium to not wait 3 years is not horrible. Seen much worse on RS Porsches for example.

That's the side effect of having such a long waiting list. Even if you don't set out with that in mind, the extra money can very tempting when offered.

He might have asked for 72k doesn't mean he got it. I expect he did turn a profit but might not have been 10k. I would not sell even if I did make 10k on it

I suspect he took £70K as a round figure, or maybe asking price. It sold quick so there is no reason to budge on the price.

There are no other Atom 4's immediately available. He has all the cards for the sale. If you want a car now, not in 3 years time there is no alternative.

If you have the cash for a £62k toy a lot of people can also stretch to £72k. If you have the cash why wait? Who wants to wait 3 years for anything?

I would have put it up for £75k. Also the colour combo probably wasn't to everyone's tastes. Where as a "neutral" like black/white or silver frame with red panels would probably attract more interest because you will likely have a wider audience. Of course, wrapping is fairly easy and cheap these days, not everyone would want the hassle.

The only issue is what else to buy in the price range £55-65k when your not a porsche fan. Lotus maybe?

It took some time to settle on an Atom all those years ago.
