Ariel Motor Company (@ArielMotorCo) Tweeted:
We have won the @autocar magazine coveted 'Britain's Best Driver's Car' against some fairly prestigious (and fast!) competition...

To read the full article - you'll need a copy of this weeks @autocar magazine.

Thank you for the praise, @autocar, it really means alot! https://t.co/UyQJLYh8ZR

The car may or may not have been 350, but it looks to have some costly options (at least Ohlins). I'd guess it has big brakes as well and the usual stuff (plus cosmetics). Anyone seen the review and know if they state a cost?

Well deserved award IMO - already A4 regarded as a triumph - very well done Ariel again
(with McLaren, Lotus, Morgan, Caterham and Ariel - the British motor industry can still cut it... even if it is a bit niche, its still world class - long may it last)

I've just read the article. The price quoted is £39,975 and the power output is down as 316bhp. (I know this may not be accurate.)

The Atom 4 gets a massive amount of praise by all the testers but in particular by the road test editor Matt Saunders. These are some experienced journalists who have driven a lot of exotic machinery over the years.

As you would expect it was imperious on track but also highly praised for its road handling as well.

The Atom was up against some incredible cars, which makes the result all the more impressive. Henry and the boys at Ariel deserve to have a few well earned drinks at the weekend in celebration.

Anyone who has an Atom 4 on order is going to have their excitement levels turned up a notch when they read it. I'm sure that it will help attract a few more orders as well.

Few laptimes for you from full circuit at Anglesey from the review

Dallara Stradale 1min 33.4
Ariel Atom 4 1min 35.2
McLaren 600lt 1min 35.6
Porsche 718 gt4 1min 39.6

That is one hell of a laptime from the atom. Quicker than the 600lt and only beaten by the dallara.

It was the 350 that was used by top gear and was at the bike show at the NEC at the weekend - I asked when I was there.

Amazing what the Atom can do without aero. I hope the wings they designed for the 4 are massive, it's also the kind of car that gives massive returns from little aero improvements. Should be neck in neck with the Dallara with the aero.

Do you know how the lap times compare to the older Atoms?
