There was a guy on here that had standard brakes and regretted not upgrading. He upgraded at first service to AP’s

I’d upgrade both brakes and suspension from the standard ones before you consider 350bhp.

Or put a different way I’d do options in this order:
Basics - aero screen etc.
LSD
Baffled sump
Better brakes
Better suspensions
Stainless steel bolts etc
Incidentals (brake bias, traction, boost control)
350 bhp / sports exhaust
Bling

I’ve put brake bias as incidental as while I’m sure it might be handy for die hard track drives I didn’t touch mine in 5 years.

Also when buying make sure you’ve thought of things needed for an MOT in 3 years time. Things like a handbrake being needed could cost a lot to add later. Even if you won’t be MOTing the car, a potential buyer may be put off.

All of the above it my personal preference, your needs and desires will mean different priorities.

Dooke

Get Alcons front and rear before the carbon and reversing camera IMO. They will add more to the resale value, and make the drive better.

Same goes for dampers, get the best you can afford before bling / toys.

Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

on suspension I guess the only expereince I had was with my Exige S240 and when you dialed the suspension in was like night and day.... truly defined the car... As you quite rightly pointed out though you can upgrade anytime in relation with suspension etc... for me I will be sticking with the 320 bhp and when I get borred and truly want more then easy enough to get the additional when in for service....for me you will get more from the car as in be faster with the suspension and brakes rather than the extra 30 bhp.... I wonder if any one has a 4 with just the basic kit...... There plenty guys on here that will be able to let you know how to get best from the brake bias.....

Oh and check the mirrors.

The standard mirrors are VERY large and very plastic! :o

The optional alloy ones are highly recommended. ALL the Ariel demos have the optional mirrors! ;)

Peter, I think it was you who mentioned the wing mirror upgrade a lot earlier in this thread well before I completed my spec, when I went to the factory and asked to compare the two and upon seeing them both I decided the optional mirrors were a must, I probably would have gone with the standard ones otherwise.

Really enjoying this thread, but secretly, you all know you really want a supercharger attached to a late MY 3.5.

Nothing like a 8.5rpm supercharger whine 10" from your ear ;-)

Thx for the info, I will re-consider the addition of Ohlins and the AP racing brakes and mirrors after the Ariel visit.
This £40,000 toy is getting expensive.
Corvette 74 big block, Mustang Cobra Terminator, Focus RS mk3, Nissan GTR, Maserati Gran turismo mc sport.
