Renewal time

Post by Winmoz » Fri Feb 08, 2019 6:36 pm

So nearly one year in. Another year’s no claims added to the policy so was hoping for a price drop. Nope. Reis want an extra £12 on top this year.
Seems I haven’t convinced them I can be trusted with an Atom yet :-)

Maybe they think you'll use 2019 to explore your limits now you're a year in and comfortable with the car?

Shudder the though!

I was down at A-Plan Insurance in Thatcham yesterday as my UK house is only a couple of miles away and they currently insure my UK CRV which is due for renewal soon and I was down discussing the options with them.

- they know that I have an Atom 3.5R and said that should I ever decide to bring it back to the UK they could offer me fully comp insurance at circa £565 for 6 months in commission / 2500 miles pa - this includes windscreen cover and also laid up insurance when SORNed.

The guy I was talking to said that they now had a variety of underwriters prepared offer various levels of cover for an Atom!

I'm with A plan on my SC Nomad - £650 for the year - plus £150 for 5 trackdays.

Just had my renewal quote through from REIS for the Atom 2 300 I've just sold. £269 fully comp. 6 track days included. £350 excess. 3000 miles limit. Down from £312 last year. This is the first time for me a policy renewal has gone down - turned 50 last year so maybe that's why - shame the cars gone!

Bargain. Either you live in an ultra low crime area, have a very risk averse job, have many years no claims applied to lightweight, high powered sports cars or you are just very lucky!

That’s a less than half what I pay with the same guys for my N/A 3.5!

I've typically moved brokers every year hunting for the best deal as it always infuriates me that even though my experience has gone up so do the renewal premiums. Like I said, first time the renewal quote is less and ironically I don't have the car. I had the Atom for 8 yrs so guess that helped with the risk factors.
