Wet Dash Poll

Post by phil4 » Wed Nov 28, 2018 8:41 am

Following the discussion about the Atom (and Nomad, and Ace) Race Technologies Dash2 getting water in them here: https://www.ariel.club/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17285 we now have a poll.

Have you had problems? Has it sorted itself out? Or do you never drive/ride in the rain?

My analogue dash has been submitted to the odd unscheduled biblical downpour but hasn't had any issues.

The only problem I do see is when it's really cold and a slight misty moisture deposit develops on the inside of the acrylic screen in the centre between the 2 dials. It doesn't run with water, just looks a bit foggy but doesn't stop me seeing anything.

I think the internal electronics develop some warm temperatures inside that cause the condensation.

It usually goes once the ambient outside temperature rises.

I seem to recall that if you remove the analog dash, there's an open round hole in the back to allow some air to breathe.

It's splash proof in normal use but you wouldn't want to point a pressure washer at it !

Every time my analogue dash gets water running over it it mists up. This could be parked up or when cleaning by mistake.

The fogging / misting clears after a period of time kept dry.

Not had any permanent problems so far.

Sadly not really enough data to draw any conclusions from. :-\

I don't know .. ?

Better than a well-known 48:52 % split that drew some huge conclusions .. :fence:

With a sample size of many millions a 4% split is statistically significant. ;)

But more importantly politics insta-ban for John tbh! :P Where is a moderator when you need one? Wait a minute.... :o

Was it rain that was the killer irg100, or the 'damp'?

For a couple of nights at Devon Dash, the car park seemed to be mystically engulfed in a cloud.

Romantic as it was, I'm wondering if a downpour - that will largely miss the dash - is different to that fine damp stuff that gets under the dash and into your inner wiring, over a period of hours overnight.

I know they resealed your screen, but maybe it was damp stuff getting in round the back?

Who knows...

My car has got wet loads of times, and the display has misted over quite often, but never had any issues with it.
