Atom 4 for sale on Ebay - for £65,000 you would have thought they' d have cleaned the seats and replaced the scratched tape on top of the main tubes....

For £65k, I'd expect a bit more than £3k of extras on a £40k base spec.

(Man maths in play, but you get the idea; it's not a £65k spec car)

Reg number WA20 FBY if anyone is doing an Interweb search on whether this car is good value or not...

Least good looking 4 I've seen. Hedge's still takes the gold ribbon.

Hi All, I’ve recently joined the forum looking for an Atom, what you you ‘experts’ think is a fair price for the A4? I’appreciate some guidance!! Cheers Chris

I’d phone Ariel and ask for a price list.

Then using that build the car using the pics and info. The price at the bottom then is what it’s cost new. You need to decide if the extra is worth cutting the 2+ year wait time out.

That’s your best way to decide if a car is over priced or massively over priced.

Keeping an eye on the Ariel used car list is one way to go Chrissey1.

From my experience, these prices are pretty close to list price (up until about 3 or 4 years old), but will certainly help flush out a car that is over priced.

Roughly speaking, a base Atom is circa £40k when new, but can quickly reach £70k with all the bells and whistles.

The options list is pretty key with these cars IMO and the devil is in the detail...

As Phil said though, if you see one that takes your fancy, don't hesitate to give the factory a ring and enquire about it's spec / history. They are a great bunch of guys and are always happy to help.

Chrissey,

Try a 4 and try a 3. Knowledge is a great thing.

Hi All,
Many thanks for your replies and advice!!
One final question, what's your opinion of having a supercharger, worth the extra expenditure?
Thanks,
Chris

Been looking at used Atoms for a couple of months now.

I've seen a £44k built car go for £54k on collectingcars and now that £65k car which cost less than £45k new on Autotrader/eBay. Add to that someone offering £7.5k over build cost for any Atom4 and £3k to "buy" a build slot. A proliferation of 8-12yr old Atoms going for £35-45k and ex track school/ experience day cars being sold with "low mileage" - slightly overlooking the fact that ALL those miles were on track.

I've decided a new one, to my preferred spec, is preferable to most of the cars I've seen and I'll just suck up the 28 month wait......
