Has anybody on the forum got a car lift of any sort ? Scissor lift / 2 post / 4 post etc ?

Thinking it may be easier to do work on the Nomad - in particular cleaning which you Atom folk dont have such an issue with I appreciate, but also raising car to do brakes/wheels etc etc

Any recommendations appreciated. So far scanning Pistonheads seems to point to www.automotechservices.co.uk as the go to...but I havent actually checked the nomad/atom would fit on the smaller ones due to width.

It's not the width that would worry me, so much as whether the lift pads would hit jacking points on the car?

It'd be easy with a ramp type one buuuut, does that not then stop you doing wheel/tyre work, since they're what the ramp uses.

I agree in that respect - this is why I was wondering if anybody had made anything work. The tub will get in the way of the usual jacking points but I was hoping to be able to find places on the chassis to be able to lift it. But clearly its not a simple thing.

An RSJ across your garage ceiling then use your winch or whatever with extra large axle stands.

I bought the A242 from https://twinbusch.co.uk £1200 inc VAT and collected from Kettering on a car trailer.

Luckily my garage is 3m high although I had to modify the width to make it fit. I believe they now sell a narrower version.

Rear pads locate on the engine bay tube joint and I use a couple of plywood spreaders under the front wishbones. I would like to think the Nomad would have similar points.

The car lives on the lift when not in use leaving a good working area below.

I was actually thinking of a large inspection pit as an alternative.

Something in the back of my head tells me they're banned now though (?)

They collect fumes and stuff? Maybe I'm making that up...

Legal I think, but not very safe ..

As Karl said, petrol fumes can pool in the bottom and ignite, if there's a fire in there or under the car when you're down there, there's not really any means of escape.

I was considering one of these when it was last discussed here...

but haven't done anything until now. With lockdown and more time the garage is getting a more thorough clean out and reorganisation, so looking to get one of these to make more space.

Could you tell me what arm length you have and how they are?
I’m buying the new 242G this one is lower for normal garages. But comes with slighly shorter arms, so I need a set of longer arms (max 139cm) for one side

You mean the 242G which fits a normal garage due to 233cm hight instead of 282cm?

This one I’m ordering shortly, be aware you need longer arms in order to lift like chris’s does, arms are too short standard...(shorter compared to the high lifts)
I was quoted 243 euro’s excl VAT for a single set of 139cm arms. Still a good deal though.
Locally I hear nothing but good reactions about this brand
