Have a great day. Hopefully there'll be plenty of other interesting cars there as well.

Chaps, just to let you know that we are going to lock this thread off soon. At nearly 100 pages it's like a wild beast and I think it's time for some specific threads to be started if you want to know/chat about anything either related to the 4 or otherwise. phil4 might look to split it down into multiple threads and move those into the atom chat but that's going to take a bit of time...

Time to start some new threads please peeps! Ta muchly...

Apologies, just realised I hadn't thanked people for their thoughts on extras I should be considering. So thanks to phil4, simonhart and Alistairbuchanan, really appreciated.
I've actually now had an email from Tom asking me now as well so better get on with it... very very easy to creep over my £10k budget though.

Still finalizing actually.

Although currently thinking :
350bhp upgrade £2,974.80
Adjustable traction control inc launch £1,950
Bilstein single adjustable dampers (probably track bias) £ 2,998.00
On the road legal kit £947.30

That stands me at £8,860.10 plus I will have upgraded AP brakes whether that's track spec @ £4,584 or standard at £3,384.00 I don't know and will look for advise on this. Possibly upgraded seat belts as well ?

I know that's over my £10k budget but ....

With that spec you NEED a brake kit, cant do with the standard brakes...single piece ap’s are perfext,2 piece doesn’t ad a lot.
You’ll want 3 inch seat belts as the 2 inchers cant be fitted with crutch strap and thats exaclty what you need on track, at least at the drivers side. I’m thinking about selecting 2 inch for passenger. Not to save money, but to save lots of time. You’ll find yourself taking passengers a lot and they dont know how to strap in the 3 inch, the 2 inch have the easy click system like a normal car, passengers can buckle up theirselves...

Don't forget LSD, especially for the 350 cars, also baffled sump for anything heading to the track. Both should be standard fitting IMO.

If your heading to the track get a front and rear towing option incase you end up in the gravel and don't want to damage the frame paint.

Track day tyres are another obvious option for a track car.

Handbrake is really handy, and no longer a pain in the elbow! Also more expensive to add later when the car is built.

The stock wing mirrors are ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE, and utterly hideous! Thats why you will never see them fitted to Ariel demonstrators. The smaller optional ones are perfectly fine for visibility and look a million times better.

You will need the Aero screen, don't forget it!

I would strongly suggest stainless fixings or all the little bolts will go rusty.

I have never seen the need for a crutch strap in an Atom. As long as you tighten the lap belt tight before the shoulder straps there is no way you will submarine out of the Atom 4 seat. Its far too deeply sculpted. But its person choice.

The tail tidy looks much better, have a look in the flesh if you can.

If your ever going to leave the care anywhere for any period of time get the locking fuel cap and the removable steering wheel for security purposes.

Good luck with the purchase. :tu:

.. If passengers don't know how to use the seat belts ..

I'd strongly suggest that their safety is the driver's responsibility.

I always manage their installation and check that belts are correctly fitted.
I feel better about it and in most cases, they do as well.

Fit the best both sides!

I agree partly, only at the point where you suggest the 2 inch isnt safe I dont.
I like a scrutch strap, but a passenger doesnt need it at all. With the 2 inch they are much faster buckled up and I can help/instruct sitting down in the car. With the 3 ich the adjusters are more difficult and peepz dont understand the release button. With the 2 inch its recognizable.

Re: belts:
Always fit the passenger first from outside the car, or get someone else who knows how to do it to help your passenger. Most people don't know how to adjust them correctly so its best you advise directly and you can't see properly from the drivers seat.

2 inch belts are perfectly safe and the simpler car buckle is better for passengers as its obvious. You do need to explain the shoulder straps won't auto release though.

Drivers harnesses come down to personal preference. I am very happy with the 4 point 3 inch will alloy adjusters and pads. Alloy adjusters were a revelation in smoothness for me, and the pads are a welcome addition. I have tried 2 and 3 inch both adjusters and with and without pads and got my sweet spot. But it is a personal thing based on your usage.

So black frame choice seems to be the preference here
