Does anyone know if I could remove this part?

yes you can. Put your head under it and you'll see where to use your key to put it out.

Hi
When I remove the eye from the back and screw it in ready for track use it’s then impossible to remove the ‘bonnet’ to access the battery as the eye runs up hard against the front fastener. Does anyone else have this issue?

Just remove the front fastener - it's not needed!

Mine had the Towing Eye Kit Front option fitted new from the factory and it never had the front fastener.
