Atom Owners: What's your daily driver?
Re: Atom Owners: What's your daily driver?
I might be a bit mad (after all I do own an Atom) but I generally don't favour setting fire to banknotes.
With any luck it might become a "classic".

Sometimes my Cannondale mountain bike to get to work but mostly use
A 1978 series 3 lwb landrover with LPG conversion.
I would on sunny days use the Grinnall Scorpion 3. Not any more as its very broken

A burgundy (now brown) G reg Escort 1.3 with mould on the windows, rust on the wheel arches, and a big pile of soggy surf gear in the boot. Still, it starts every time and only cost me £44 for the MOT!

I have a 1990 Mazda Miata which has been ridiculously modified (turbo, lightened, etc). It's just not spartan enough. I expect the Atom will rectify that.
Re: Atom Owners: What's your daily driver?
- 2005 Dodge Magnum RT (often referred to as a man-wagon by my lady friends... and yes, it has a HEMI!)
- 1996 Honda Valkyrie (deceased, and while my year of mourning may be up, I still miss her terribly!)

I think they make a wagon version of the Chrysler 300c in the UK/Europe market (which I know you have, since I saw it on Top Gear! <grin>)... different looking front-end, but same car as the Magnum 'under the skin'. There are actually people in the US who are retrofitting the 300c front end onto Magnums, since it's cheaper than importing the 300c wagon!
I got to test drive a 300c before I got my Magnum, and they are very similiar. While I really liked the classy/gangster (think Tony Soprano) look and feel of the 300c, and loved some of the little 'extras' that came with it, I ultimately felt that the old school muscle-car look and feel of the Magnum were a better fit for me.
Don't know about how the 300c measures up in the British auto market, but in the States, I think the LX vehicles (300c, Magnum, and new Dodge Charger) are incredible values! You really get a lot of car for the money.

Re: Atom Owners: What's your daily driver?
Unfortunatly the cars are almost bound to be double the price and probably only left hand drive (the wrong side not only for UK roads but for any car with a high torque engine). They are obviously selling very well in the States as I saw a lot of them last week.
As you have seen on top gear the 300C is available here but have not heard of an estate (wagon) version will keep an eye out

That's because premiership footballers (the people to whom owning these cars appeals most) have an H2 they use for shopping and taking the kids to school

Good point, the LX cars look pretty cool though. Remember H2s owned by Brighton based ex boxing champs can easily be upstaged by a trio of Atoms.

Merc V220 CDI
Merc E320 Coupe
VW Golf GTI MK1
Atom 220
VW Golf 4motion (for err in doors)
Something for all occasions, V220 is good if there are a few of you, Coupe is best Merc built (would like a new CL, but dont like merc service and am not sure they are made the same :-)), Mk1 reminds me what it was like when i was 18 (can just remember). Atom is for when i'm blue, or just need some speed. 4motion is good fun and discreet (goes through tyres and coils on the track though!).
