It's a personal thing of course, but I don't like the new 'mean mouthed' snorkel, BUT that looks bloody good.

Would you describe the noise as a bit ‘Fast Fordish’? You mentioned a dump valve. I haven’t heard a 4 yet, but that would be my ‘demon’, having grown up in the RS Turbo, Sapphire and Escort Cosworth era.....

I’m hoping it sounds ‘unique’.....?

From Henrys youtube review it sounds similar to a Pagani Huayra, with the obvious lack of 8 cylinders. Darth Vader. Love it.

The engine noise is dominated by the noise of the turbo and the dump valve. The turbo is VERY noticeable all the time. When lifting off after some hardish acceleration the dump valve if quite loud too. A bit "old school turbo" i guess. Even cruising along on light throttle the turbo whistles along to remind you its there.

If you love turbo noises you will love it.
Atom 4, Clio v6, & some other cars obviously.

lol

I do like it. It can already see its is a more capable evolution from the older cars. The new suspension on the MDS is a highlight. I like how it looks overall. It looks mean. >:D Some bits could be improved IMO, but looks are subjective. Still running it in its impossible to say if its faster and more exciting though. The old cars come alive when pushed hard right up to the rev limiter. Without doing that to the new car its not a fair comparison. On the first drive I have NOT mashed the throttle to the floor and screamed it to the red line through the gears. Thats not running the engine in for me. When i do i will be able to comment on which is faster and more exciting. The mid-range is certainly good, so fingers crossed for the top end. I will let you all know and do a back to back test with my other Atom further down the line. Maybe i will need a remap to give me the top end i crave... Time will tell.

Peter

Your new 4 looks very good - almost sinister? :tu:

- but, looking at the silencer during your 'walk around' video of what is an absolutely brand new car, I rather suspect that the polished s/s silencer is going to be a right b*****d to keep shiny in the future!

I am very thankful that I eventually decided to have my silencer 'Zircotec'd' Volcano Black when my Atom was rebuilt last year as a 3.5R as I now NEVER have to polish it and it looks great (at least in my eyes! :police: )

I do like the sound of the Huayra and the turbo swooshes takes me back to my childhood. I am still not sure what I prefer NA like this Ultima making your ears bleed, or a more modern turbo sound track.

First chance to try the 4 on track, have just booked Castle Combe, Friday 13th, (I'm not superstitious) through trackdays uk

Bedford 21st & Snetterton 22nd through Javelin. If anyone can make it, should be a blast.
My pal's joining me on Friday with his 3.5, so looking forward to a head to head.

Thanks for the update Pete, I can rely on your straight forward account, rather than, well, rather than something else :D

It’s going to interesting once run in. Looks really good in that colour scheme, white chassis especially. Will there be an update for the dash, is the software available as it’s a bit of a basic layout? The test car had the little numbers and after a recent play with the new S1000RR, that’s the way to display things. I’m sure it’s sortable.

Hopefully catch up at the weekend.
