Re: What slicks people?

... The car shines with heavily staggered patches in a compound that works at low temps. Huh? Is this sentence the victim of the auto-spell checker or is it just me ? :wize: Is it the staggered tires bit? Perhaps not a phrase in worldwide use. The counterpart is square tires, where the width of the...

Re: What slicks people?

Tried Hoosier and Avon slicks for formula cars and Hoosier A7 autocross compound. Had success with both in 245/295 and 245/355. The car shines with heavily staggered patches in a compound that works at low temps.

Re: EVs don't suit everyone.

Hybrid is the ideal, and the beauty of it is that there is an infinite bucket of technologies to draw upon. For performance cars the electric bit should double up as reverse motor, alternator, adaptive aero power source, and potentially suspension height power source. This can reduce the weight in a...

Re: EVs don't suit everyone.

If you want to go full militant, you could of course quote this from a recent(ish) article in the LA Times: "When a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket blasts off on a plume of white smoke, hot gases shoot out of its 27 engines, creating a thrust equal to 18 Boeing 747 aircraft. Upon reaching orbit, th...

That's one race where you got to finish first! Well, you are a racer so I suppose business as usual.

Thanks for sharing, very complicated project with a professional result. This should shine in a Thunderhill 25 hour enduro!

Re: Should I purchase Atom or Spire GTR/3

If you go with the Cup Car it doesn't need anything. It can run many seasons without any real upkeep, a set of tires and a set of pads every season and two oil changes. You can run Motul 5.1 brake fluid and change it every two years. It really is that easy. The only real difficulty is keeping an eye...

3.5 steering upgrade Any more info on this steering update? :pop: :pop: :pop: My steering is a bit lazy with initial input, if this is fixed in later models that would be super! I don't really know the details but I believe it involved some shims to alter the steering geometry slightly. Mine was do...

Re: Minefield

Ok, so just to get it straight. If can get hold of a car with a K20 it would be preferable to a K24...? I'm sure you will find people on both sides. That said... The K24Z7 produced recently have the headifold design and VTEC only on the intake valve. Both of those mean the head doesn't flow as well...

Re: Minefield

The 3.5 chassis with K20 would be the one to go with, if within budget. I think it's the best one ever build. Then it would be easy to add sidepods, supercharger, Ohlins, whatever to get it up to the spec you want.

Re: The Bastard's Build

That's surprising. I thought the rods would go first. What a bummer. FWIW I don't think your 450hp<500hp for sleeve failure comparison is that simple. It might take 100hp to spin your 38R. That block could be experiencing the cylinder pressures of ~550hp even if you're netting 450hp. For me that's ...

Re: Let's talk limited slip differentials

Turns out OS Giken will do tune ups based on power, aero, etc to tailor the application. So I went with them and let them figure out the setup. Pretty excited to see how different they are from the OEM Torsen.

I do feel like I am talking to myself on AAC. Some of the low foot traffic is due to technical neglect, I receive many PMs from would be users who just cannot register. That doesn't mean it's altogether of no use. I've made several connections there but carried them over to calls or emails.

Re: The Bastard's Build

Diagnosis: CRACKED SLEEVE. OEM sleeve broke right off between cylinders 1 and 2. This is a surprise for me. I thought the OEM sleeves are good to 500hp, it's literally unheard of to crack one at 450hp but I suppose I tend to break things early on the way I use them. Metal from sleeve got into the c...
