Re: Atoms for sale - information thread

People put too much emphasis on factory services. I've seen some cars that are dogs that have a lot of history but for a lot of people, especially jn the North, transporting to the factory and back every year isn't feasible so they get them serviced locally or even do it themselves. I know owners th...

Re: Where does it say its a 3.5? - Incorrect V5

Both the 3.5 and 3.5R say its a 3.5 on the logbook. I've had a few and none have said 3 or anything else.

Re: Sequential V Manual.

Sequential makes it almost too easy to drive on the track and takes away even some more of the fun and rawness of the previous atoms. It you want to go faster, then sequential, if you want to live more on the edge of your wits and challenge yourself then definitely manual. Also sequential can be a b...

Re: Newbie with loads of Atom questions

You're misunderstanding what I meant as I was writing quick. Yes the g forces are what make it slosh but a road car is heavier and suspension not as stiff, so when it's cornering the whole car rolls to the side more, meaning the sump isn't parallel to the floor and if it’s not parallel it means the ...

Re: Wanted: Atom 3.5 type dash surround

Ah it's not that complicated. The wiring diagram to make a conversion harness is up on my site somewhere, as are the carbon surrounds.

The only slightly difficult thing is having to use pull up resistors to convert the sensor outputs to the type required by the dash2 but it it's not complicated.

Re: Newbie with loads of Atom questions

I always wondered why it's not made just like that as a standard, it's just a different design and wouldn't really cost any different to manufacture than a standard sump.

By mass of car I meant in the sense to contribute to the roll of of the car to tilt the sump.

Re: Newbie with loads of Atom questions

The baffled is designed to help the oil pickup from the sump for the engine lubrication. With a normal sump there's a danger on the track when going around a corner fast or momentum changes direction fast that temporarily the oil 'sloshes' to one side or one corner, and the oil pickup unit is left b...

Re: Minefield

If you drive an upgraded 3 on its own you won't be able to tell any difference. Drive a 3.5 and an upgraded 3 on the road and you won't be able to tell any difference. On the track its a different story. An experienced track driver will be able to tell the difference. An 'untouched' 3 drives comple...

Re: Minefield

Personal choice, the k24 doesn't rev as high but there's quite a few deep discussions on here when it came out, have a search through the forums.

In all honesty you're not really going to have anything to complain about with either engine as long as the rest of the car is right.

Re: Atom 2 275

They were quite rare and were pretty old school rough running with vibrations felt through the seat, rough idle, potential to spit flames and popping from the exhaust on throttle lift off/overrun. @John Scherrer Like Atom 4 then! I've shared this before - this explains the popping I get all the tim...

I have a brand new set of factory front and rear lights, 3.5 style, never been fitted to a car if you're interested.

Hamtt Just to correct you a touche my particular Atom was completely stripped down to the chassis and has been entirely rebuilt/upgraded by the factory (January-June 2018) to the FULL 3.5R spec INCLUDING all the chassis stiffening and and during the process was dipped & stripped and then re-pow...
